The house son is in the process of purchasing has shower attachment on the bath taps.

Any ideas approx how much we would be looking at to pay for fitting an electric shower above the bath from scratch ?

The amount of work required can vary greatly, depending upon his requirements and the existing situation in the house.

The best approach may be to get a few suitable people to look at it and get some quotes.

If the existing arrangement is usable, bear with that for a while...

Thanks.

Just so used to having an electric shower (was glad we kept our electric shower , would have been a bit stuck when our combi boiler froze up for days in the winter)

Everything seems in excellent working order, so assuming existing shower should be usable (fiddled with a few taps and the heating was on when we went both times , didn't try the shower out....)

Does he ( and will he still ) have a hot water tank?

If so, then you could install a pump unit for extra flow, but that doesn't get you past the dead boiler situation, after a while.

He's got a hot water tank in the airing cupboard in the bathroom .

His boiler probably wouldn't freeze up like ours though if installed properly. Ours was installed with the condensation pipe too narrow (Thanks a bunch Eaton & Ward) that leads outside to drip onto the garage roof. First bit of ice the water dripping out freezes and builds up inside the pipe, the boiler packs in and we are balancing on ladders with a hairdryer trying to defrost the bloody thing to get some heating in the house.

Will do once he's got the keys. He might find he's happy with the shower that's there at the moment. Just me forward thinking....

Steer way clear from Phil at WT Hagan and son.

Steer way clear from Phil at WT Hagan and son.
Yeah, sure will! Had dealings with him before and cost me an insurance excess and increased premiums for 5 years afterwards.

Son is buying a house in Worcester, so hoping to find info from the locals down there to avoid WT Hagan type cowboys .
