Destruction of Doxey Marshes.

If anyone has ever had a lovely walk through the Marshes and would like to see it remain as it is, a haven for nature, and a wonderful green space for EVERYONE to share, please object to the plans that are in to create a car park, club house and floodlit natural and artificial rugby pitches

Plans are here:

https://www12.staffordbc.gov.uk/onl...ils.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=NEXG8PPSGHH00

Objection comments can be made here:

https://www12.staffordbc.gov.uk/onl...do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=NEXG8PPSGHH00

Please please do make your feelings known as soon as possible, as once this land is gone, it's gone, and the negative impact will be there forever :(

Sorry if there is already a thread about this, I couldn't find it, only the one about the protest march on Sunday.

Not sure you will have much luck.
Think I mentioned in the Stafford Hockey thread that the Head of leisure at borough council is a Director of the rugby club.
No objections from the council for the Rugby club then - despite loads of objections from everyone else and access being a problem.

Jesus, I had no idea that much land was being grabbed!

Please post an objection or join the peaceful march! At least then we've done something, however small, and however slim tha chance of success. What is certain is that if everyone does nothing and leaves it to someone else this proposal WILL occur :(

We need a Rugby Club, I have nothing against them, and advocate sport and being healthy all the time, but this site is just not the right one! I sound like a nimby but it's not near my house at all!!

It's almost like some people are more important than others and have undue influence isn;t it!! :(

Good thread kyoto49!

I've commented, just hope it is actually read and listened to.

You mention a march, any more details?

Here's the FB group connected to the march, please people we need as many objections to this as possible if this land isn't to be lost forever for the people of Stafford:

I am in no way connected to the organisation of the march or with the FB group!! Just to clarify!

Does a bear shit in the woods? perhaps, but Stafford without doubt will be shitting on our marshes, if this gets the go ahead.

Those documents are mad! Setting aside for a second the fact the borough council managed to write a report that misrepresented the wildlife trust's position (seriously, read their correspondence) and recommending approval, they also don't seem to find anything wrong with publishing the name, address, email and telephone number of every single member of the public who has objected! Surely that should be redacted?

I did worry about the name and address thing, it's not great having to put your objection to some pretty powerful Stafford people online with such sensitive information available. It almost put me off objecting but I just feel too strongly to let this one go. I didn't add my phone number and used an email address that I hardly used but still :(

I'm convinced that publishing such information is a breach of data protection. Imagine the threats and coercion it could cause for residential planning applications and neighbour disputes

I had no idea the Rugby Club were proposing to relocate. I thought there were looking to improve their existing facilities.

The inconsistencies shown by the BC in dealing with this application and the SCHC is absolutely shocking. If this application is approved and SCHC refused serious questions should be asked and a complaint made to the ombudsman. Ideally, there would be a judicial review. However, you need to have deep pockets to go down that route!

Stafford Rugby Club are getting funding from TW and have the backing of a major landowner, as such why do need to relocate to an area so environmentally sensitive....surely Riverway or Beaconside would be a better option.

New houses are in vogue* right now!

Though, who are able to afford them is something I've wondered for some time.
