I wish I was less cynical, no, really I do

I cannot ever remember the word magnificent being used in relation to a politician

But then I have met too many

I voted on Thursday - am now in Stoke so we only had Euro elections but was happy to see Labour lose so many seats and was mildly pleased that Tories took such a huge county council vicotry UK wide. I voted for someone other than the top 3 mainly because I don't like the expenses scandal, I wanted to vote for a party that shares my views on Europe and I think that Labour have had their day now.

I note that every single County Councillor in the Stafford Borough is now a Conservative

I fear this is not a good thing

However, when the back slapping has ceased there can be no doubt who to blame

don't mention the blinds
indeed Mr Marwood, it seems that as we live amongst a blame culture we should indeed look for,
1, scapegoats
2, escaped pandas
3, tory coach drivers
4,
5, aussie dentists
6,err
also welcome to the forum, i am a bit of an old hand at this mularkey and have a vast knowledge of Olde Stafford Towne, sadly very little of the present day although i try to assist with some very tricky assignments out in the field. I have made one or two mistakes but these are down to a certain ex-friend of mine. I take it from your logo that you dunna like the "Cashmaster" although the last time i made an assumption about a newbie i got a bit of a ticking off, in fact i had my balls well and truly slapped as they say in Walsall ......

Thanks to everyone who's congratulated me. It was probably one of the weirdest counts I've evr been at. We (the Conservatives) took all 9 seats in Stafford Borough and 49 of the 62 seats in total. A Group that large can be pretty mental, and as has been pointed out, in four years you'll know who to blame - IF we've done a poor job that is.

I was shocked that Labour got so close. I felt certain the Lib Dems were the main threat. With a majority of only 68 it's pretty clear I've got one term and one term only, so I'd better get on with stuff...

As for spunking cocks, I feel I must reveal the precedent that was set during the two counts. In the Local Election, there was a ballot paper with a non-spunking cock in the box, which since the entirety of the mark was within the box did count as a valid vote. In the European count however, a cock within one box was spunking into another box, and was rejected as "void for uncertainty". So now you know - be careful where you spunk.

I can see you replacing Peter Snow and his swingometer when your time is up. What a concise explanation of the intricacies of the electoral system. I might even stay up to watch Election Night Special if it was as good as this - and if I had a telly.

I understood that 'be careful where you spunk' had been official Party advice since the days of Cecil Parkinson, Alan Clarke, David Mellor,....

Almost a Round the Horne quote there - as when Julian stood for the Universal Party - 'so-called because we're at it right, left and centre'.

'Shake hands with your prospective member'.

dear god, i am literally laughing out loud here  i can't believe someone drew a cock, and it was counted as a valid vote, but the addition of spunk on another rendered it null and void due to the voracity and ambiguity of said ejection

"be careful where you spunk" :bravo:

I believe that it is valid if you put any mark in just one box. It could be a thumb print in your own blood - or ( far ) worse things....

I understand that even if you wrote 'NO!' in the box against someone's name that could be taken as a vote for him!

All I can say at this point is that I will be looking into it urgently, but if it is as popular with the residents as I am led to believe it is, then I would be a fool not to fight tooth and nail to get it done.

Construction of a multi-storey at the railway station will start at some point in the not too distant future, which will disrupt parking at the station so would've thought permits in Castletown would be quite useful before that starts...

Well, if no one else is going to say it:
"I for one welcome our new Conservative overlords."

Congratulations, Mark. Please don't waste the chance you've been given. :)
