Can you post a picture of said box and it's cabling?

Also do you know how your current service provider gets cables into your house?
Ive answered my own question (sort of)..
Its this...

A Virgin media wall socket. Although ours isnt attached to the wall.... :/

Safe to cut/unwire the cable? (Single brown cable)

Current service provider drilled another hole near to this one, but it has a different box....

The box looks like a multi room box or the incoming Virgin cable box. You should be able to unscrew the cable from the box rather than cutting the cable.

If so I would recommend pushing the cable back into the wall amd keep the box safe in case you ever want to go back to Virgin (assuming this is the incoming cable) or they may charge you again for another install.

Fab! Thanks for the advice @Thehooperman :) We may well need it again at the end of the other providers contract, & at least I wont electrocute myself.....

.....Where I could buy a small (bedside table size) lamp base that will fit a (normal sized) old fashioned lightbulb, not the small screw-in type bulb?

Ive tried Asda, B & Q and even the Kathrine House Charity shop & they all seem to only sell the ones that use small screw in bulbs....

I’ve always been deeply suspicious of ‘large red things.’ (Ever since I got run over by a Midland Red Bus.) :heyhey:

'Large red things ?' 'flat inflatable things ?' …. this is like the script from a Steven Spielberg horror film … :o
