I have asked elsewhere (Facebook) but, does anyone know if there was ever a shop down Alliance or Isaac Walton Street please? An Open All Hours type of thing?

Thank you

Hi @Glam No problem , Spoke to her earlier today so ive got ya some info.

Yes , She took over the shop for a few years from the Merills* when she purchased the property on Alliance Street( * not sure if thats the correct name spelling. )
It was a general store and also a post office before royal mail started closing a lot of those down. Theres still a post box in use outside.

She only ran it for a few years as it was about the time the major supermarkets started pulling away the trade so it became difficult to make any profit.
She says it closed around 30 years ago and has since been converted back to a residential property.

Thank you. I was enquiring for a friend, he thought he'd imagined it. He knows differently now.

Are they Gas fitted for example - Gas boilers? Gas hobs?

Or not?

Interested.

In the absence of a definite answer, i would try Tomlinson's in St Thomas's Street, now that John Anslow has gone from Sandon Road.
Ohhh is that the one by the hardware shop that got a really bad hygiene report recently!? Although lots of customers posted saying they wouldn't go anywhere else?
