Does Anyone Use a Graphics Tablet?

I'm only going to be using it personally, just to edit my own photographs. I'm willing to spend circa £100.

What should I look out for and what are the usual cons I shouldn't underestimate when choosing?

Thanks folks.

I got mine for £25 from tesco a long time ago, bundled with a remote mouse and webcam. I think Trust made it. It does me fine, but its a whole new learning curve to get used to it. For really fiddly work I still use a mouse or trackball and really close zoom. To get a really good one, you're looking at a Wacom for about £300.

I have the Wacom Bamboo "Touch and Pen" and, while it makes an excellent stand in for my Mac Magic Mouse
when the batteries fail, the Magic Mouse makes a better hand of tracing images when using the Magnetic Lasoo
in Photoshop. I've a sneaking suspicion that no one will be fully able to give you the feedback you need so, you
would be more than welcome to borrow my Bamboo Touch and Pen for a while if you wish, it may be all you need.

Cheers....Ecker.

I had a Bamboo Graphics tablet, took a lot of getting used to and in the end I found I was more comfortable using a mouse, and could do a better job with it.

Cheers folks, and especially Ecker for the offer to lend me their to try out. At the moment, somebody else on another forum (sshh, don't tell Ed) has offered to send me their old one, for just the cost of postage, but they haven't got in touch with me yet, but I shall bear that in mind if they don't come up trumps, if that's ok. Thanks. :)

Most of my students use them, but they do shiny 3d stuff- like this
and favor expensive centiqs so I imagine for photos a Wacom Bamboo would be fine.

I've never much been a fan of using them, but it takes practice.
