Electrician

Anyone able to recommend and electrician to me?

Have tried Award Electrical and Bright Sparks who both were unable to do the job (one on holiday, one ill) and so don't want to just choose one out of the yellow pages if I can help it.

Have also spoken to Rikki at Ogdens but no good... so any suggestions?

I've used Colin Squires 600461 - seems a good bloke,

and Brian Insull - 258222 - very neat work.

 

Cheers for that... just tried one of these "submit your job online and workmen will quote you for it" affairs and had one quote from that...

Will give Colin / Brian a call though.

Squires Electrical - came round for a quote, seemed like a nice fella, never got back to me with the cost.
Grays electrics - job i need doing is too small to pop round to have a look, quoted over the phone, will be about £... or £... max +VAT, erm ok, BYE.
Award Electrical - doesn't do quotes after 6 on weekdays and doesn't do anything over weekends


i'm struggling here to find anyone who's someone that will do a certain something, soon

Thanks Dianne, i had already booked (Mark Vickers) Safe Home Electrics to come to do the work, he seemed very trustworthy and honest, i'll see how the job goes.

before i go, another added to the blacklist - 'Bright Spark Electrical'.
i emailed them and they never got back to me, business really is booming for some people eh!

Well, the job has been done and paid for.

Safe Home Electrics (Mark Vickers) turned up on time, text me to say the job was complete, came the next morning to collect payment, just how a job is supposed to be dealt with, he's on my to-use-again list.

I've an electrician sorted!

Posting as promised After reading this thread and getting quotes from a couple of others we had Mark Vickers (Safe Home Electrics) do a complete rewire of a 1930s 3-bed semi (complete with original vulcanised rubber and only 3 'modern' sockets!). His quote was exceptionally reasonable, excellent communication, very neat and tidy, completed the job in 7 working days AND came out to resolve an unforeseen issue at 9am on Sunday morning with no quibbling. Would not hesitate to recommend him or use him for future work - thoroughly nice chap!
