End of another era

Just was told by the lovely John and Ange from the butchers on Sandon Rd that they are retiring at the End of September .

Shame. One of the few remaining shops where you can go in and ask him what you should have - and come out with what you really wanted, if only you'd known yourself.

Like County Woodware - for food.

When they first opened, they gave me a free leg of lamb - or they would have, if I hadn't realised who had left it on my doorstep, after pressing the bell and running back to the car to deliver other Sunday lunches in time to cook them. They were only one number out on the house, but that meant it was on the other side of the road, about a hundred yards away. All was resolved just in time....

Not had cause to use them in years, no longer living on that side of town - but I wish them well in their retirement.
