Glenn Roeder has resigned as manager of Newcastle United.
Roeder and chairman Freddy Shepherd came under fire from fans after the home defeat by Blackburn on Saturday.

Ex-Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has been linked to the vacancy at Newcastle, who have been hit by injuries this season and are 13th in the Premiership.

A statement on the club's website said: "Glenn Roeder has offered his resignation with immediate effect and this has been accepted by the board."

I think Big Sam would be a great replacement....maybe his son could 'fix up' a few match winning signings

If he can get the defence sorted whilst adding one or two forward players they're a top 6/7 side. Not a lot wrong with the front 6 in a 4-2-2 when fully fit it's just the defence which lets them down.

Mind you Big Sam doesn't rate 4-4-2 so god help you BBC.

Glenn Roeder - Top man. Not good enough as manager. Had an awful season for injuries but still tactically naive - see uefa cup exit!

As for Allardici. The reasons for not wanting him to come are as follows:

He is corrupt. Our assistant manager, Kevin Bond, was sacked at the start of the season for no more than having his name mentioned in the panorama programme, so slightly hypocritical to employ a man who hasn't, as yet, even carried out the threatened legal action against the bbc . Says it all!

He finished lower than Glenn last season despite Toon being way below Bolton when Glenn took over. Was only concerned with one thing and that was the England Job which he was so keen on. Telling the world what a brilliant manager he was. Big headed both physically and metaphorically!

Bolton play boring, agressive football. Nuff said.

Already turned us down twice after Robson and Souness left.

Used to play for mackems.

Too many mediocre foreign signings. Bolton's youth team is even like the united nations. Also cannot stand diouf and anelka!


Saying that if he wins a trophy then all the will be forgotten! I know that sounds fickle but that's football
