Experienced Head Chef looking for work

Hi all!

I am a Chef with over 20 years experience and am looking for new opportunities. I was made redundant at the beginning of the year (great start to 2011) and have spent the last few months desperately applying for anything suitable.

If anyone needs an experienced, hard working chef or knows of someone hiring, please let me know, I would be so grateful!

Many thanks,

A

Hi kaleidoscope75. :)

I see you have been a bit of a lurker since January! Hope you have been enjoying The Forum in that time. Good luck with finding work; let us know how you get on.

Noticed the Barley Mow is advertising again after yet another refurb.
Prime location with an appalling history of service, product and destination, for three decades now...

Have they got it right this time?

Probably not, deep fat fried and microwaved mass food for the masses of summer visitors and kids.
Cynical? Moi?

Have applied for the Old Post Office and was promptly turned down, I imagine due to the fact I haven't worked with Gordon Ramsay or gained any Michelin Stars.... :(

The Barley Mow Milford? I am not a 'ping' chef (microwave jockey) lol! Even if I did apply I would probably be turned down for being too experienced. Happens all the time, most places (especially ones who serve microwaved ready meals and deep fat fried food) do not want to pay for experience, they want a college graduate with little or no experience they can pay minimum wage to, unfortunatley.

I do prefer to cook with fresh, locally sourced produce. Have applied for everything I can find online and in the paper. Just having to wait it out! Thanks for all the heads up! :)

In case you haven't looked in this week's Stafford Post yet, I noticed Tillington Hall Hotel are advertising for a chef (I think, didn't pay much attention but thought of you). =)

Have put my own ad on gumtree (don't know why I never thought of it before!) so hopefully that will bring in some interest! :)

John are you referring to the Hand and Cleaver at Ranton?
