All a bit late I think - how many sales have been lost whilst they have been arguing?

Macca has taken his stuff off Spotify - I presume to negotiate a better deal.

Will the Mono stuff reissued last year be available?

Far better music came out of the 1960s than the Beatles. Give me Bob Dylan, Small Faces, Troggs, The Who, to name a few, over the Beatles any day.

Failed!
I could make a good argument for none of those bands existing without the Beatles.
Quick test and no googling - Your top ten Troggs Numbers?
The best Two Troggs albums?
Case Proven I think.

Many things are subjective, none more so perhaps than music.

The above statement, however, is patently tosh.

You are a very naughty henryscat.

I agree with you about your subsequent choices of music, but for me it doesn't detract from how much I enjoy listening to the Beatles. I don't think they were overrated - but music is subjective as withnail says. When you're not a fan of something as popular as the beatles it can give the impression they are overrated, if you're not a fan that is, but I'm sure that most who appreciate the beatles can also appreciate the likes of the who etc.

Dylan v Beatles on Harry Hill ?

FIGHT!
I don't think you would get the Fabs and Bob to slug it out.

Their careers effectively ran concurrently for a key amount of time and there was much mutual respect.

I don't agree that music is subjective either - any more than Sport or Science. You could argue that Chelsea or Man Utd Pele or Gordon Banks was/are overrated but you'd be daft as a brush.

With music we have the very crude measurement of 'sales' but a better picture would be to look at Influence, Timelines, Books authored, Websites, Polls etc - it's not quite as clear cut and allows people to say things like the Troggs were better than Led Zep or the Beatles were overrated (usually without any convincing argument or facts).

This is a forum an exchange of ideas rather than a notice board for wild opinion surely?

I think the Beatles are Massively under rated.

Dylan is in a league of one.

If you don't like em’ you don't like or understand Pop/Rock music.

Nothing wrong with that if people are big enough to accept it. I don’t ‘get’ classical music, cooking, the Fashion Industry, Theatre or Gardening and would never venture an opinion.

Trouble is every one becomes an expert.

I've got the Troggs' argument on a twelve-inch forty five - now that is a true classic..

Audio is NSFW!!..
I think the Troggs swearathon tape actually displays more creativity than their recorded output.

I must get a copy - heard it 30 years ago "split yer body yer ****"
if memory serves.

Can't play your link on my work pc.

What a strange notion. This is a discussion forum, and discussion is rarely interesting without opinion. :)
