Yes i actually play football, not just talk about it - shock to you all i know! I've been managing 2 five a side football teams down the Sports Arena in Stafford for 5 years. I was wondering if anyone on this forum is any good at playing and would like to get on board the fitness train with me. I am looking for goal scoring brilliance. Can anyone help? I play on Monday and Wednesday nights. Come on boys and girls, either gender are allowed to play.

As i have no idea who the hell anyone is, can you PM me and tell me who you are so we can get quadrant united of the ground. I think BBC has just named the team.

We could even play a 'quadrant formation' if it was 5 a side! jamie, the landlord in the railway, wanted me to organise a team so he could sponsor it as well. get our own kit with our forum names on the back etc! wicked

If anyone creative out there wants to come up with some imaginative kit designs feel free to do so. obviously the forum has to be mentioned on there somewhere. myself and RJS shall be discussing team plans, formations, tactics, squad members etc this coming weekend so anyone who's interested contact either of us.

As I can think Anthony Gardner is the only Sports related Stafford born star we have. Does anybody know him now or did you know him before he became a professional?

Knew him when he was at Vale with a mutual friend who he still knocks about with.

I used to play football twice a week with his brother, Daz. Got a helluva shot on him.

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
Anthony played in the same side as benny upsetter, he started out as a striker and worked his way back to defence.

my work organised an 11 a-side game against some of our clients the other week which I couldn't be arsed with, but the dedication to the course was priceless. Our chosen goalkeeper forked out 35 quid on a brand new pair of gloves whilst the rest of them - who I doubt have not played football in 10 years - and when they did where pretty shite - splashed out on new boots and shin pads. The self-nominated captain even bought himself a captain's armband. 3 nil down at half-time, said captain delivered a memorable motivational speech; "Right lads, we're three nil down so in the second half we need to score four goals." What a brilliant tactical masterstroke on his part. Final score: 5-0. It's moments like these that entice my out of retirement - sign me up for the forum team.

My current contract with Real Dundonald expires in April. After that I become a Stafford based free agent and expect plenty of opportunities to play in the Borough.

'AVE IT!!!

Ok – seems like we have 2 or 3 deffo's for the forum team. I was hoping for 7 or 8 players min. So i guess you keensters will be added into my existing teams. Yesterday i had to register the Mondays team, i called it Castletown FC, Wednesday's team will be called the same. I am hoping some people could put some ideas forward on the design for the strip. I am in the process of finding out how much this will cost, maybe I'll use JJB. So watch this space.

Can someone explain to me the reason why Alex Ferguson won't speak on camera to Match of the Day?

They did a documentary on him a while back and suggested his brother Jason may have profited from his dad's influence at OT and vice versa. Jason had his own sports agency and also represented a few players who Utd brought and sold.

It's all untrue of course.

However it has it's plus points watching Tache man stumble through a post match interview is quite hilarious. Blokes a few cards short of a full deck.
