Anthony Gardner used to be a cracking sprinter for Cannock & Stafford AC and the County Schools side, despite never concentrating on track & field he was a finalist in the 200m at both the English Schools and the National u17 Championships. No real surprise he made a good transition to a Centre Back; tall, very fast, skilfull and well coached at Stafford Town and The Vale.

If he hadn't made a footballer he would have been a potential international sprinter. Tom Humphries from Gnosall has the potential to be a regular Cross Country Road Race Senior International and who knows?

Staffords most succesful sport from an international point of view over the last 30 years has been Stafford and Stone Canoe Club, a number of Slalom World Champions

Richard Fox, probably the greatest ever slalom canoeist (5x world champion), is the stand out performer, but I don't think he was born in the Borough.

I went to school with a Richard Fox, don't think it would be the same guy. How old is he?

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
that bloke from stone played in the world cup didn't he? if there's a world championship for cribage the holder must surely hail from stafford. folks in the town go mad for what must be the only matchstick-based recreational pursuit in existence.

Nearly £40 a ticket and no concessions, according to a chap on radio 5 tonight! They charge more for clubs who have large away followings! I wonder if it would work down at Marston Road?

Richard Fox would be about 45 now I think Miss T.

Why did the Man city fans boycott Saturday's game?
It was a protest against rising ticket prices.

Often when home teams play 'bigger' away sides they hike up the ticket prices. They're renowned for it.

My ticket for Sunday has cost me £49 and the one for White Hart Lane a week or two after approx £40 I think. Gits.

Aye, as a Toon fan who mostly goes to away games I can agree with this. We nearly always sell our away ticket allocation. Last season against Birmingham City was £42. Vs Aston Villa is was £26. Old Trafford was £46 this season!

Last week in the cup against blues it was a concessionary £25 for Newcastle fans and only £20 for home fans. 16000 turned up and we took 6000!! Don't let these wasters back into the premiership! At least the wolves/albion get a decent crowd every week.

Get training asap, this five-a-side game is well quick. Speak laterz.

As it happens, girls are allowed to play with the geezers, so yes Anders you may be goaly, but will have to act as sub goaly for the time being as I do have 2 keepers representing CFC at present. Can I recommend Adidas Samba's for the indoor footy game Jimbob23. I know how much you like trainer wearing/collecting, he's a new pair you can add to the cupboard.

I was originally reluctant to put forward my aching 43 yr old bones for football dalliance, mainly due to the shift nature of my job! i.e. I wouldn't make it every week, and I know from organising teams in the past, such people can be a pain in the ass!

I would be willing to put my body on the line so to speak, on an occaisional basis if required!
