Favourite kids' show

I was having a chat with some folk down the pub at lunch and we were discussing the programmes we used to watch as kids.

Some of the shows that came up were:

Thundercats, James the Cat, Jamie and the Magic Torch, The Racoons, Wacky Races, Cities of Gold, Dogtanian and the Muskerhounds, Ulysses, The Poddington Peas, Battle of the Planets, Terrahawks, Chorlton and the Wheelies, Centurions, MASK etc.

What was your favourite programme as a kid, and why?

All of the above. I loved them all.

Finger Mouse used to piss me off. I found it quite insulting.

Re Mask - I've still got Boulder Hill. Or whatever it's called. It's in my Mums loft along with several MASK toys. The red car and the one that turned into a helicopter.

Edit: I think you've missed out He Man and also Philius Fog. The latter was a little treat after a long day at school. Settle down with a vimto and I was off around the world.

Stopit and Tidyup because it was just so weird. There's a few at the moment (I'm an early riser) that I think must have been made by people on acid. One of them is Pokoyo, it's mental.

Was it just me, or was 'The Moomins' ever so slightly terrifying? There was a really sinister undercurrent.

I got Chorlton and the Wheelies on DVD last Christmas. Absolutely brilliant. In know there are those who will say this is nostalgia talking, but they really don't make them like that any more.

Remember 'Round the Bend'? And 'Round the Twist'. Both quite subersive for kids' programmes if I remember right.

Spot on Jimbob. They certainly don't.

Some of the stuff doing the rounds today simply qualifies as shite.

Ooo, Danger Mouse ;)

Danger Mouse rocked! As did 'Bagpuss', on a really young tip.

I loved those slightly dark 70s style kids' shows. 'Will o' the Wisp' was awesome.

'King Rollo' was second only to 'Mr Benn'. Now that was a programme. "As if by magic..." etc. That shit's more entertaining than most current 'adult' shows.

BBC

You knows it

These were ace. Proper wierd aussie kids TV. I used to like pugwall as well. About some aussie kid who was trying to start a band. Quality summer holidays viewing.

Does anyone remember a wierd badly dubbed kids tv programme about some kid who got everything he wished for in exchange for losing the ability to smile? I've been trying to convince Benny upsetter for years of its existance but cannot remember for the life of me what it's called. I'm sure it was real! Help.
