Never had any call to go inside a County Council building.

For me, it's St Leonard's School - again, not been inside, though, I suspect it could fairly easily be demodernised.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Shire Hall, High House, all of the buildings on the shop side of Church Lane, St Mary's church, St Chad's Church, the Chetwynd Centre, County Fruits, the old Post Office, the old Registry Office, all of Martin Street and plenty more besides. I might even like the County Council building if it wasn't seemingly still falling to bits.

Shaw's House -

- is often overlooked a bit when this sort of thing crops up, so one can't help thinking this would not be the case if its true gloriousness wasn't covered up -

- in whatever render it is currently clothed.

Have you not thought about revealing its true facade, @ChrisLewis ? Or would that just be ridonculously expensive?

I do like the county council old buildings in Martin Street, the inside is rather spectacular - I went in for a function and a visit from Princess Anne - she was very pleasant to talk to and a very firm handshake

St Chads and St Marys, proud to have two beautiful places on my doorstep, the three story houses along crooked bridge road, the old council buildings.

For the sake of equilibrium, list your favourite or best looking buildings in stafford.

for me it is County Buildings inside and out. Recently was shown around inside, it is truly truly amazing.

Used to go in for Union meetings when I worked for Social Services & Health Authority, but got the full tour when as a Firefighter, accompanied crews on guided visits in a their risk assessments, that are carried out annually. It was great, as a Staffordian, to get a good look behind the scenes, and fantastic to give the smoke eaters not familiar with the county town, the benefit of my observations and experiences of the building, and town centre.

(YesI am sure the those men & women who do such a valuable job considered your verbal diarrhoea "great" & "fantastic!" :barf: Ed )

It definitely was a library, down stairs for adults and upstairs
for us kids. I had my first library book from there.

I was very young when I went there, I don't remember a spiral only the amazing
tiers of coloured books and being left alone to just look and pick out two to take
home, I was very disappointed to find out I had to take them back though!
That library started my love of reading, when I had just begun to read, so it must
have been open in 1950.

I have to go see the Old Library!

There's sooooooo many lovely buildings in Stafford.

Sometimes it takes you to look up to see them, above the signs of some shops, to know there's a lovely building there waiting to be stared at.

One of my all time favourites is (the old council building?) on Tipping Street, so much so I have it as my avatar.

Remember 'em shutting this particular 'Old Library', about 30 years ago methinks, but wouldn't be surprised if that is totally out!
