Reeves and Mortimer would appear to have been influenced by him

I was going to give a heads up but i'm sure you've already seen it - Pulp Fiction was just on BBC 3. What a film that is.

It made me just want to get wankered lmao.

Hello. Just a thought, but would any forumites be interested in doing some sort of “Stafford Forum film club” kind of thing, whereby (perhaps once a month) forum members who are so inclined could meet up at Stafford Apollo, watch one of the new releases and then go for a pint afterwards...?

Sounds interesting, but depends what night you're thinking? I rarely go to the cinema anymore because I hate noisy chav yoofs, but may be up for it. Since my server died I've not watched a film since the crimbo telly!

Make it an Ealing Comedy and you are on

Getting a little tired of 74 channels of Bollywood now

I love all the old Ealing comedies! Nice idea, but don't know a soul off here and already feel like I stick me size 9s in the wrong places!
But on the subject of films to watch, son and heir got me a boxed set of Marx Brothers dvds for Christmas, working my way thru them at a bit of a snails pace. Last film we watched at the pictures tho was RED,loved it. Can't wait for Pirates 4 come out in May. Following that my next biggie will be Sherlock Holmes closer to Christmas, owt with either Johnny Depp and Robert Downey jr in it always gets my vote.

Doesn't necessarily have to be the same night of the week each time, and it wouldn't have to be the kind of film the noisy chav yoofs would want to see! Personally, I'm usually up for seeing pretty much anything from any genre. But rather like yourself I rarely get out to the cinema (I usually watch films on DVD), except for seeing kiddie films with my two boys. Getting to the cinema a bit more often is something I've been meaning to do for a while and maybe starting up something like this is exactly what's required...

Its a Winter thing i guess

Come the British spring talk of cinemas will be replaced by bike rides beer gardens and Top Totty

tek-monkey

There is ALWAYS time for bike rides beer gardens and Top Totty!

Anyway, yeah could be good. The last film I saw was From Paris With Love, watch that at your peril! At least this way we could all bitch about crap films over a pint rather than going to sleep regretting the last 2 hours of my life!

I might prefer to watch an old release and go for a pint....

I love old movies, 'Maisc, but as far as I know we only have the Apollo here in Stafford and the Apollo only shows new stuff. Unless they show old movies at the Gatehouse? I think they used to, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Anyway, enough derailment of this thread (sorry!). I think I'll probably start a new thread about this, but I'm going to send tek-monkey a PM first...

Excellent idea! On both counts; the creation of a Film Club, and of a new thread. :P

I seem to recall going to something like this a while back in the gatehouse and oddfellows

Biggest problem for a non cinema environment was poor sound

Thanks for the link, 'Maisc. I had no idea anything like this went on at the Apollo. I'll have a closer look at it...

Me neither, they used to do something at the Gatehouse when I were a nipper (saw Resevoir Dogs there) but thought the Apollo just showed the usual hollywood stuff.
