Watched fellini's casanova at theoddfellows hall back in the 70s, that put me off 'art-house' movies for good. Although that may have something to do with the fact that i was pressganged into setting up the chairs, probably my own fault for turning up early.......

Reading the recent exchange between db and Gramaisc re Ireland, i wonder whether either of you have seen No Surrender written by Alan Bleasdale?

It's been quite a while since i last saw it but it is jolly good - i feel quite sure you would enjoy it.

I seem to have a vague recollection, but it will have been when it was newish. I see that it has Z Cars' 'Sgt Bert Lynch' in it...

There is a BBC Northern Ireland series called Give My Head Peace, which is a sit-com based on two opposing paramilitary families..

There was one episode which ended with a chap in an RUC uniform shouting 'They're going to shoot Paisley!' whilst being chased down a main shopping street in Belfast by a Scorpion tank being driven by somebody who was clearly intended to look almost exactly like Gerry Adams. Just imagine the forms that had to be filled in for that to happen....

Good. I thought that it looked about right. But I don't really understand these things..

Might even have a go myself.

Shine were just on Beeb 2 - what a $*~?ing film that is.

The tears from mine eyes are in the process of drying - and some great music also.
