Fit 4 Life ~ Ladies Gym

Hi

Anyone fancy joining the gym? Its really great value and a friendly atmosphere. I have been going since August 2008 and really love it. Sorry men, ladies only.

The gym has a 30 minute circuit plus all the usual cardio equipment. You can stay as long as you like, no time limits. They also have a vibroplate which gives you an hours workout in just 10 mins - good for those looking for a quick fix - not tried it myself but my friends have and they swear by it.

They also have a beauty room upstairs and you can get discount on treatments if you are a gym member. They also offer spray tanning and a nail bar.

The gym is located in the town, where Bagnalls used to be. If anyone wants any more info let me know. I really think its great there, hence why I thought I'd give them this little bit of promo from a very satisfied and happy customer.

Thanks

1st thoughts were when i had my cynical hat on but then on reflection i have to state that your info looks bona and heartfelt... i'm still fairly new to this forum mularkey however it is surely a vehicle to promote local buisnesses and services i personally could recomend a couple of locals who are trustworthy and will not rip you off....

I would just like to make it clear that my only connection to the gym is as a customer. Like you say, just a bit of local recommendation.

Hi Basil - are you psychic or just heard something on the grapevine? The gym is not going great, due to lack of customers they are closing down. There is a possibility of re-location to Marston Road but that has not been confirmed yet.

The lady there who does the beauty treatments is moving to Gym and Tonic on Newport Road next to Vets for Pets.

Not sure what I am going to do, I need to work out because I love food and hate the thought of restricting it due to lack of exercise. I think Marston Road is a bit out the way for me, town was very convenient. Any ideas?

Gym + Tonic, Vets 4 Pets, gives a new meaning to Poodle Parlour. also marston road is a most unglamorus part of the town (cue outrage). 40 odd weeks 'til the stafford half marathon so that's an option......

It isn't that bad. It may have been til I eloped from ST17, but no longer.

My source in the local plod says that the area bordered by Stone rd, Browning st, Co-op st and Marston rd takes up a huge part of their time and lists, anti-social, burglary, domestics and non-payment of fines as top of the cops jobs there.....

I think Marston Road it undesirable to say the least. A bit of a backward step for the gym me thinks. Oh and thats a NO to the half maraton - I don't do running!!!

That's weird, living at the Marston Road end of Co-op Street for the last 2 years I've seen the police down there twice at the most (I do believe the guy I bought my house off had the police round quite often due to domestics though!) As for non-paying fines, I believe that one, if your car is parked illegally at 8.01 you always get a ticket.

Stafford Leisure Centre (riverside) is value for money however a little over-suscribed depending on what time you prefer. Limited car parking though most use ASDA who (depending on time) dunna mind as lets face it after folk come out of the gym the are in the mood for healthy eating options. And ASDA have noted that cider and kettle chips sales seem to increase as gym classes finish, so i'm told.....

Must admit, having grown up on Oxford gardens, moving away and then subsequently moving back to Peter James Court, I have always found Marston road and adjoining areas very pleasant. Certainly not a crime hotspot as suggested, however I would not be privvy to late night anti-socials or burgulary so maybe you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Fines as issued in a court of law and not paid will certainly attract the attention of the court and they don't waste time in taking action. It's what people want......

Yea, I'll quite happily walk home at 2am after a night out, there's never any trouble.

Anyone know how Gym & Tonic are doing? There seems a lot of gym's in Stafford for the size of the place.

I live on Castlefields so just round the corner from Gym & Tonic so expected at least a flyer through the door but not a thing. (unless I missed it). I seem to remember a competition in the local rag and the banner is still out front, but I think it is doomed to fail personally.

There was a large promotion for a years membership for £199, which isn't bad for the gym. Family members were interested, but the gym currently closes at 8pm which is useless for them.

I think it'll last about 18 months in my opinion. All depends on how many people decide to re-subscribe and at what cost in the second year.

I think the £199 was a "pre-opening offer" and so finished as soon as they opened. It is £249 now, still not bad I suppose but not much less than the Riverside which includes loads more in the price.

Correct, for 25quid the riverside will offer use of equipment, well run classes (aerobics, spin, body jam etc) and apart from a few occasians you can swim whenever you want. They even have swim session for the over 50s, ....a little young for my liking.....

indeed stafford itself is not a crime hot spot if compared to other towns of a similar size. and any nucleus of recorded crime/police activity needs to be kept in context. For a 15yr period Highfields was a busy location for the local constabulary, yet any visiting bobbie from local metropolis would have found it a pushover. In recent yrs Highfields residents have seen vast improvements in their environment, this has been achieved by;1. more private ownership of previous social housing, 2.visible policing policy (this has recently declined due to improvements) 3, Residents faith that reporting drug dealers will be dealt with. 4, Local police visiting schools and removing previous percieved views.......Downside is that one neighbourhood gains and another one loses out....
