No, because I said cash on collection. He asked if I had insurance on Percy, cos then he could come up the next night and pick him up etc. I cancelled Percy when I got my hands on the new 1. Haven't heard owt off him since.

I had the same thing when I sold a Corsa last year and the winning bidder didn't respond despite numerous messages.

I eventually contacted eBay to say the bidder hadn't paid and eventually got a message from him saying "he'd driven past the car and it wasn't big enough for him"!!!

Surely you'd check the size of a car out before bidding. Total time waster.

If you've given the buyer the chance to contact you and pay I would report it to eBay now to start the ball rolling for them to chase up the payment and make sure you're not charged the selling fee.

I've just contacted Ebay. Fingers crossed something happens now.
I don't think there's any way he will be able find the car, I haven't told him which part of Stafford I live. But you never know.
I don't understand which bit of am I insured for Percy, it will only cover me to drive it, not him. He should have his own insurance.

Glam, I wouldn't worry about him finding the car or where you live, he'll just be a time waster with nothing better to do.

If it turns out he's a genuine buyer then he'll understand your concerns raised by him asking about using your insurance.

If Percy has any insurance cover, he won't trigger any ANPR systems whilst laddo drives him home without any insurance....

..possibly..

I could have gone the Common Rd and got £75 scrap for him, he's worth more than that if I take bits off and sell 'em that way.

I took wing Mirrors , headlights , parcel shelf , leather interior , break lights, heater/ac unit , sun visors , CD player and sold them on eBay /gumtree and made about £300, then sold what was left for £250 to someone who wanted the engine

I'd need somewhere store them tho, it's a shame. I'm waiting see what happens with the Ebay resolution centre, then either put Percy back on or just scrap him.

Glam,
That Puma looks quite clean (from the photo at least). These cars were highly praised by the motoring press on introduction and are still a good drive today. They were voted a ‘future classic’ at the time - even fastidious Top Gear voted it their Car of the Year. I think they are just on the turn when the prices might start to rise for the 1.7 versions (the limited edition ‘Racing Puma’ is now commanding £8,000 - £10,000). If your car has the 1.7 engine with variable cam timing (?), try posting it on both the dedicated Puma websites (‘Pumapeople’ and ‘Project Puma’ - links below)

Hmmmmm, what's variable cam timing?
I've tried my best to look after him, spent a small fortune compared to what I paid, but its sills are rusting thru now, he needs a lot of tlc.
I shall give it a go, thank you.
We watched the Top Gear videos on youtube before I bought Percy, and several times since.

I think all of the 1.7l puma motors used the same basic set up, so all are VVT. The racing version was breathed on a bit more, and made another 20 ish bhp.

Just to end this. Percy has gone to a new home up North, Oswaldthistle, Accrington, Lancashire. Little bit upset, sad to see him go.
Got £195 in the end, had to put him on Ebay twice, due to a time waster.

I expect to see him back up in a few weeks, for an awful lot more than I was asking for him.
