Sometimes you forget how you influence your children, subconsciously. When finbar asked me what was going on in the news this evening, and I explained in basic/moral to this story terms, I was shocked by the flood of tears that came, but as said, there is a lesson in it for all of us. Signed a deeply ashamed McLaren Fan.

Well, really! They'll be saying that Tour de France cyclists take banned drugs to enhance their performance and that wrestling is fixed next...

Erm, so what happened?
The evidence centres on email exchanges between McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa and world champion Fernando Alonso, as well as traces of phone calls and text messages between the team’s then chief designer Mike Coughlan and Ferrari’s Nigel Stepney.

The emails between de la Rosa and Alonso appear to contradict a core element of McLaren’s defence – that confidential Ferrari information was not circulated within the team but was held by a single ‘rogue’ employee for his own purposes.

In emails sent in late March and early April, extracts of which are published in the FIA’s report, de la Rosa and Alonso discussed information gleaned from Stepney about the design and performance of Ferrari’s F2007 car.

On 21 March, de la Rosa emailed Coughlan asking for information about the Ferrari’s weight distribution, saying “it would be important for us to know so that we could try it in the simulator†and adding that “I will be in the simulator tomorrowâ€.

After receiving a reply by text message, he then emailed Alonso four days later setting out Ferrari’s weight distribution to two decimal places on each of the Maranello team’s cars for the Australian Grand Prix.

When Alonso questioned the reliability of the data, de la Rosa replied: “All the information from Ferrari is very reliable.

This overall punishment methinks is harsh ..but fair when all said and done . The key to this F1 lark apart from all the racing strategy, number of pits and the rest of it is all the stuff the techie guys do locked away in the winter in the development centres. All these developments are then tweaked and tested out on the tracks to see if they work . They are a closely( until now) guarded secret .There are always "issues" every year in racing it is part and parcel of the game , Ferrari got walloped a few years back for some plate thingy under the car that was either too heavy or too light or somethin and everyone is trying to make their car work better and perform better .

I find it slightly odd that all this spying thing seemed to happen in melbourne which was the first race of the year . The competitive edge between the two Maclaren drivers hadnt really got under way then so cant see any reason why Alonso felt the need to up the ante so to speak . Clearly now the two Maclaren drivers are gunning for each other and have been for the last few races but I'm a little dissapointed in the talented spaniard to be honest . I was well on his side when he raced for Renault and thought he had amazing potential and eventually he proved it ..but now I'm thinking unless he wins the championship he will be loosing his seat next year Ron doesn't take to kindly to this sortof stuff. You do have to wonder if Ron was aware of all this when it was going on aswell . Lewis certainly seems to have got under the skin of alonso who clearly does not want to loose his crown .
Interestingly this might explain the smug look on chisel jawed schumi's face at the races every time the camera pointed at him . I suspect he knew something was up . On the subject of Schumi..er.. what is he doing at these races he doesn't drive for ferrari any more and is not on the team yet he seems to be at every race ? He cant just be enjoying the race and meeting up with his old mates can he ?

Belgium is gonna be interestin'

At the beginning of the race the commentator was saying that Massa was complaining that there was a problem with the rear of the car but the technical director couldn't find anything.
Do you thing they might have consulted the McLaren team for a second opinion?

No title today then!
I must admit I’m not a hamilton fan, I was when he first came on the scene, but he's kind of pee'd me off recently! I know I don't know all the facts, I just remember reading he was moaning and threatening to quit England due to the media pressure he's put under and the intrusion into his private life, i.e. can't go out without someone taking his photo. Big bloody deal, I'm sure it wasn't a shock to him, like you don't think the media will be interested in you, you only drive an F1 car, lead the title race and earn multiple millions of pounds(well if he doesn’t yet he soon will)

Its like becoming a fireman and threatening to quit if they ask you to fight another fire! (they do tell you you'll be fighting fires don’t hey gone2seed?!) Hazard of the job!

Oh, and when he quits England, I'm sure it'll be to a 'tax haven'.....funny that!

And then, to make matters worse he goes and threatens to quit if anyone accuses him of cheating again, (or whatever those things called facts were!)

Ok lewis, I know your only a kid, your proving that yourself, go and give up your job and work in McDowells, I'm sure no nasty men will tell you off there...its just a bunch of chavs in town int it?

Yes I know......I'm just jealous!

Ok, think the shock is wearing off now, some ten hours later.

Down to the wire in Brazil, don't know if my nerves can take anymore.

Yeah, but they didn't tell me they were going to take the beds away, make the second pump at Stafford part-time, run down the service in the most miserable fashion ever, absolutely rip moral to pieces, and then tell everyone that we have the best fire service in the Country.

Yep! you guessed, it's been a hard week! ;)

Anyone really interested in the details, it'll have to be a chat in the pub, I've already said enough to get me the sack! I jest not!

I must say Gon2seed I would have thought you guys would have had your own diesel pump at the fire station. I was very surprised to see the pump fuelling up at Sandon Road Garage.

I always wanted to be a fireman/woman. Ce la vie..
