Forum Awards?

I normally hate awards and polls, but if this hasn't already been done, is there any milage in Stafford Forum Annual Awards. It could be used to generate interest in the forum in the local rags. We could publicise the awards and encourage foks to register in order to vote, they would of course be unrepresentative and relativley meaningless, but the end result would hopefully be increased registrations and hits!.

I got the idea from the best pubs thread!

Of course, if I am going totally barmy (which seems to be the concensus anyway) please feel free to ignore this preposterous post!

I thought all Stafford Town awards, ie best pub, best take away, best restaurant, Outstanding Contribution to Bigging up the Town, Best Stafford Musical Contribution, those sort of things! I am sure people could come up with loads more, then we could all vote on which categories we wanted, a maximum of say 10.

Real danger of nepotism of course, we wouldn't want to have categories just set up so that Forumites could win.

Rewards! mmm never really thought of that, but I suppose we would need a sponsor if we wanted to give real awards! I was really thinking of making it more web based and virtual, but hey! its up to you wonderful people! If we did it in Nov/Dec we would have plenty of time to get voting and decisions made!

What about category for Fireman of the year? or 44 year old father of three boys of the year? or descent into rambling madman of the year ....

Great idea! A "best local singer-songwriter award" would be good... :)

Nah, but seriously, polls for best restaurants and service would be great.
