Having seen the bag I can confirm it is beautiful - if you dont mind me saying CRL - it's more plummy/burgundy than in your photo. Done a bit of research as promised and a Fossil bag of this size would have been almost £200 new. It's worth saying it's made of leather too with the Fossil tag and signature key that all Fossil bags have.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
£200 isn't expensive for a good quality handbag.

£200 isn't expensive for a good quality handbag.

Yes it is.

One can get a very good quality handbag for half the price.

Only people who choose to pay for a "name" spend that money on a bag. Some people are only convinced of their worth if they can show it off by wearing a label to show how much money they have spent.

Apart from that.....your photos are just wonderful.

I came home with a new handbag the other day, and said it my husband 'isn't it pretty?' 'How much?' was all he asked, so I replied with '£100 off!’

I did get a bargain and it only cost me £80 and I must be a terrible person for buying Radley.

Although it's not just about the name, I wouldn't buy a bag I didn't like just because of a name.

I personally love Radley and you know you’re buying a certain quality, I also own a couple of Tesco's handbags and at least one that came from Sainsbury’s.

With that kind of judgement on handbag shopping, I’m presuming Hothouse flower that you don’t buy branded products when you go to the supermarket, that your telly is some obscure make that even the all in one remote has never heard of and you wouldn’t be seen dead in a department store?

Meh, I spent over £100 on my wallet and it looks as good now as it did five years ago when I bought it. I suspect it will still look as good in another five or ten years.

Only a rich man can afford to buy cheap...

Ok, fair point.

If you buy Radley but then buy Tesco, you are obviously not one of those to whom I was referring. Some people only buy designer and never high St and in my opinion it's all just a nonsense.

I repeat, it's only my opinion, and not a judgement.

People can choose to spend their money on what they want but I would never spend hundreds of pounds on a bag, though perhaps I am in the minority.

Each to their own.

Actually I do agree with that sentiment......as in, if you buy cheap then you buy twice.
I do agree that buying something good quality is best, but I still believe that with some items you are paying for a name/ designer and the quality is not always any better.

Hothouse I’m trying to sell a bag not raise a debate on brands and consumerism.

Although your points are valid did you really have to come into my advert and tell everyone how it’s not worth spending money on bag?!

A little unfair I think.

I agree CRL - especially as it's a bargain price for such a good quality bag.
We sold many very expensive bags when we had the shop - We had some we were selling second hand for £200 - and they sold because they are £400 new. You can tell by the feel of a good bag that it's quality and will last for years. I hope you sell it CRL - someone will get a real bargain :)

Crazy Rat Lady......you were the one who said " £200? I will have to have words with my sister" which would indicate that you too think she paid over the odds for a bag.

Also, this is a discussion forum and I am not the only person to go off track on a topic. I myself have put things up for sale only to find the thread going off track somewhat, but it's to be expected on a forum like this.

Anyway, you are selling it used so I presume that you are not actually asking £200 for it anyway. Even if you were, my comments would not put someone off if they were interested.

" oh I really wanted the bag and was going to buy it but hothouse won't approve so I won't now"

A little unfair I think.

You don’t know the financial situation of my sister, or indeed the amount of bags she owns! The comment was not directed that way – merely to express my amazement at the cost of the bag brand new.

Yes topics go off track but you came into my advert and took it off topic.

Not just an off topic discussion into bags, or brands but directly to that fact that you didn’t think it was worth buying it, just because it was a brand ‘name’ and a label.

You too would be insulted if someone came into your advert (that was perfectly on track) and told everyone that it wasn’t worth buying.

No I am not asking for £200 for the bag, I have not specified a price at all, only offer’s, as it’s only worth what someone wants to pay for it.

And your ‘hothouse won’t approve comment’ is ridiculous, you came in to an advert and told people it was not worth buying, not a very good sales technique methinks?

I will ask admin to remove your comments so you can discuss why people choose to pay for a ‘names’ and how it’s all ‘nonsense’’ in another thread.

Actually only a week or so ago I was selling a beige carpet on the forum and some bright spark posted a comment about how the carpet used to be white.....the implication being that the carpet, once white was now beige and therefore dirty.

Did I go all uppity and tell tales to teacher (Admin) asking for the post to be removed? No, I didnt, I responded like a grown up with humour and was glad that a comment, any comment was at least keeping my post to the top.

And yes, my "hothouse wont approve" comment was meant to be ridiculous....because its ridiculous to suggest that someone will be put off buying the bag because I personally think £200 for a bag is plain daft. People have their own thoughts and actions and certainly wont let my opinion sway them if they were intending to buy the bag.

This is a discussion forum and while I agree that it can be annoying when something goes off topic, at least this is keeping to the subject in hand. Later on in the day when more people respond you will probably find lots of people agreeing with you and you may get some interest.
In my opinion though, for what its worth (not much on here lol!) one usually gets more response if you actually name a price. People may be interested but wont want to offend you by offering too low and therefore dont make any offer at all.

So what's wrong with it that she would want to sell it? Doesn't it work any more, or has she been given another better one as a present?

As I always say, a lady's handbag should not be big enough so that it's able to carry a useful amount of stuff, but big enough to ensure its owner is unable to find her mobile phone before it stops ringing.

To be honest it's more about my complete inability to walk past almost any handbag without buying it!
