Well TBH I was always suprised at how many people thought coton fields was dodgy when I was growing up - I had no problems there. My experience of Highfields and Rising brook is that, compared to other areas I've ventured at night, I always used to see more trouble.

Compare anywhere round here to areas of Portsmouth I visited while living dahn sarf, and we live in a utopian wonderland :)

I spent my years growing up on Highfields, it is a hole. The houses aren't pretty, it was built as an over-spill from Wolverhampton in the late, late 60s, but at that time I remember how 'Poxy Doxey' was, then when the tin houses were knocked to the ground, and the people moved up to Highfields the estate became worse, far worse. So then Doxey really got it's tag and Highfields residents got snobbish.
The only issue I ever had was the dirty scuts on Keats Avenue, the inter breeding 'Watsons', I got thumped, spat upon and general abuse hurled my way by the twin girls for many, many years. Nowadays after moving all around the Ford, my opinion is you make a home your home. Every area has its lows, and highs, the boy racers, litter bugs, youths hanging round the shops. . .
Walton, Baswich etc look more appealing on the front, does this make the people who live there better than others?
The recent reports from Wildwood have been growing concern for sometime now, but kids are kids, no matter where they reside.
At the end of the day, where you live has got a shop, pub, garage, bus route, and school in walking distance . What else do you need?

Yes, that is most certainly true. Spiders the size of your fist and infestation of Mozzies in high summer but they are more welcome than some of the characters/people knocking around up this way.

I drive through Walton, Weeping Cross and Milford most days on my way to and from work and I've gotta say on any given day it will be the most attractive area that I will have encountered on my travels which include villages and nice areas of Lichfield. People travelling to Stafford coming from the direction of Rugely will always get an initial good overall impression of Stafford.
Thankfully it's not the Doxey Road that they come across initially - which would include where the old Venables used to be, to around the Universal club. This has been an area of Stafford that has been left abandoned with no interest whatsoever form our council. I think 'Street Scene' last visited c2001. Overall, Doxey has been abandoned by the council as they concentrate on cleaning up other areas of the town. Oh I forgot the Parish Council have organised some representation from the council and street scence. Inviting local residents to volunter their services in order to spend a day litter picking and graffiti removal. Well done council, glad you need unpaid volunters to clean up one of your areas just make sure you spend my council tax wisely somewhere else.

Just to ask, I grew up in Rugeley and moved to Essex in 1997. I went to Stafford College, but am not really up on where Castletown / Doxey / Etc. encompasses.

We're looking to move to Stafford and have seen several properties at the bottom of Radford Bank and along Silkmore Lane that we like. Would anyone know of any issues with this area?

Cheers.

If you went to Stafford College you should remember seeing the windmill by the park. If you go past the windmill round to the left and over the river you will be entering Castle Town. Castle Tavern on the left. Carry straight on over the railway and past Univesal, that is Doxey.

The Radford Bank end of Silkmore Lane is a better area than Rickerscote Arms end.

Slightly away from Silkmore Lane, but bottom part of Rickerscote Road / School Lane area is OK though.

well yeah you could do, as it was a bit of a joke, I mean we all know the truth......Santa doesn't discriminate!

Is this comment really worth one minus stafford point?, my one and only point :(

I know I've probably wrote some confusing things in my 60 odd posts but I don't see this comment as being confusing? Someone's asked for our opinions and this ones mine, if I had that money that's where I'd look, simple, its like someone saying "I have £10 to buy a c.d what c.d shall I buy", and everyone being confused at each others taste, I wouldn't be confused....unless I'd suggested the best of the village people! :)

Minus point nowt to do with me, have given you skill point to compensate for your loss and unlike Santa I do not discriminate.

Perhaps another Doxey resident has taken displeasure at Santa's discriminatory view points?
