Good or bad weekend?

Well, the time has come to see if we (England) have any chance of qualifying for Euro '08, all resting on Israel doing us a favour against Russia tomorrow at 6pm, I for one will be keeping my fingers crossed! Not sure if I will be keeping them crossed for our Scottish cousins mind (but thats for a different thread me thinks!), who qualify if they beat Italy tomorrow, I found this on the bbc website :

In Italy, the number 17 is considered unlucky. Some Alitalia planes have no row 17, some Italian hotels have no room 17 and in Roman numerals XVII is an anagram of VIXI which translates into "I have lived" with the implication "my life is over" or "I am dead".

Italy play Scotland in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday, 17 November with kick-off at 1700 GMT - for the record, Italy have won four of their 11 matches played on the 17th of a month in the last 30 years. (Various)

Maybe an omen!? I love things like that, when Liverpool won the Champions League in '05 there were loads of omens like Ken and Dierdre got married when Liverpool last won it and they were getting married again or something like that!

Oh and of course, not forgetting Stafford Rangers bottom of the table clash with Droylsden I'm sure the boys can get a win!......can't they Gone2seed?!?!!

I'm donning my kilt tomorrow, supping Iron Bru and cheering on Scotland!

As for England, no chance. I don't even think we're capable of beating Croatia tbh.

Yeah, worse case scenario, Israel draw with or beat Russia, leaving qualifaction up to us, then we go and loose to Croatia!

Not looking quite so unlikely now.

Croatia have already qualified haven't they? Won't be so motivated for a midweek fixture against England IMO.

Yeah your right, still don't think it will be a walk in the park on wednesday! But it looks like we'll win, and keep McLaren............great

Sadly not. 1-1

I forgot how cold it could get in this country! and how stupifyingly depressing parts of Manchester can be!

Still, a point gained, now up to nine!!!! We could, probably should, have won, but they had the better chances. It would have been a good game for a neutral, as it was end to end. Yet another seemingly long term injury for one of our team! Just how unlucky can one team be?

An unbelievable attendance of 616! And I reckon 200+ of them were 'Boro fans!

Well its on to next week, Ebbsfleet (Gravesend & Northfleet), the team who are being bought out by MyFootballClub.com. A long drive with the Seedlings but we are hoping for a win, it keeps us going!

Spare places on the people carrier for any masochists!

Good on the Israeli's! Always been a fan of the Jewish homeland :)

Surely we can't mess it up now and ruin my summer plans!?

Cue patronising English tone...

Gutted for Scotland but they did their country proud!

I was rooting for Italy, because come full time, the Scots would switch channels and root for Russia. Even I was pretty gutted at the way they went out, though. That free kick...

Well, seeing as it turned out to be a good(ish) weekend, for me anyway, I'm starting to get a bit excited/nervous ahead of tonights game!

I shall be heading into town to watch it me thinks, though not my favourite drinking establishment, I'll be in the litten tree for the game as the atmosphere's pretty damn good in there for a big game!

Any other good venues to watch the footy?

Cracking game and in all honesty they played us off the park. I was amazed how good that kid Modric was. On the other hand our midfield axis (or whatever it was) was proper shite.

Crouch gets an A for effort but the rest of them are rightfully spending next Summer in a home nations tournament or on a beach somewhere. Some of them probably don't give a toss.

Still, the buck stops with Barwick IMO and before the inevitable sacking of McClaren he should be the first to walk the plank. Oh and if I wasn't mistaken I'd say El Tel has been distancing himself from McClaren in recent months and he fancies a pop at the job himself. Again.

Fire free night ensured I watched the game, ....... why don't we ever get a shout when we need one? In all seriousness exciting game, we never looked like winning and didn't deserve a draw.

Now saved a angst ridden tournament in the summer.

PS Phil Robinson has been interviewed for the Worcester City Managers post. Allegedly

Apparently, we're getting a home international next summer, as all four British teams are free. Should be interesting, as long as McClaren's gone by then...

There has been a lot of talk about that, but I don't think the Euro Champs organisers would be happy with a rival competition, and I am sure the majority of Premiership players would be relishing a rest, but you never know.
