Has anyone else ever tried creating your own 3D buildings in Google Earth using the Sketchup software and 3D warehouse?

I have just modelled the Highfield flats (The glamour eh?!?) and would love some feed back, suggestions, tips or any other funny comments ;)

My next endeavour might be the leisure centre or if I get a little crazy, TESCO!

Have a look here:- http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d261b8f068765009adc25d883514ca6c&prevstart=0

I'm wondering if he's used the StreetView pictures, the back of the building seems identical to the front, but maybe it is really..

Yes. A while ago I had ambitions to do some of the buildings in Stafford, but it's quite time consuming so I didn't manage anything of any significance. However, I might try again soon when I have the time, especially if other people will do some too and we manage to get a good number on there!

Multimap/Bing aerial photography might help with modelling the backs of some of the buildings that can't easily be seen from the road.

I have set up a "Stafford" collection on 3D warehouse that people can place Stafford buildings if they like... I will definitely be doing some more!
