Starting salary seems incredibly low for an Engineering position. I guess that's how things are these days.

Yes, I understand supply and demand, thank you. We are not short of demand in this country, and I am surprised that we are awash with such high level skills.

Never a bad thing to have that many skilled workers, although I thought there was more of a shortage rather than an abundance.

£24k for a graduate is good, very good. £24k isn't bad for electrical (which generally pays less than mechanical), certainly not for round here mate. They could employ half a dozen Romanians for that!
