The missus and I tried out the lunchtime fish & chips offer at the new chip-shop/restaurant called 'Off The Hook' down at the end of Mill Street yesterday. We were 15 minutes late for the official offer but they kindly honoured it and we sat down to what was the finest fish & chips they we've both tasted since our holiday to Whitby 10 years + ago. The chips were lovely, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Not the usual soggy affair and the generous Cod portion spanned the large oval plate and was covered in a crisp batter and was lovely.

It was a really great meal and excellent value. I grew up next to the sea and have sorely missed a good fish and chip restaurant since moving inland. These folks have restored my faith in a good fish meal and I highly recommend them.

There doing special evenings this week and are doing two for one on Mon,Tues and Web night so if you fancy trying out some really good fish and chips..then make sure to get down there:stafford:

For the two of us. with a pot of tea and a couple of side extras it came to £15.90. For that quality of F&C at a smart restaurant in the town centre. I thought it was a very reasonable.

p.s. It was a good portion of chips too, not this rubbish of a handful of chips shoved in a bowl to make them look bigger. You should have seen the smile on my face when the food was delivered. The first thought it my head was: 'Now that's how to do it!" :)
