Guildhall Car Park - Now NCP Controlled

Just a heads up - The Guildhall car park is no longer pay on exit. According to their Facebook page the 'Landlords' decided to use NCP instead and you pay for your time as soon as you've parked. Not gone down well going by the comments they've recieved. They haven't published what the fines will be if you overstay. Iceland part 2 ?

Sorry should of been clearer..
Should what?

Of? This shit again?

Ok, let's start from the beginning - 'this' is what i have in my hands. Let us say that you take 'this' from me. Is 'this' what you 'of' in your hands? Obviously not. Is it what you 'have' in your hands? Well durr..

It really is that feckin' simple.

You should, or should not, 'have'. There is literally never going to be an instance where you are ever going to actively 'of' anything, because that's just not how any of this works.

FFS it's every effing where.

Pay on exit is always the fairest model as you pay for what you use, and you don't have the overhead of paying wardens as they are not needed. Pay up front means you often pay for more than you need, and the fines issued to those that forget far outweigh the cost of the wardens that issue them. I can find no argument against pay on exit other than the cost of the barriers to start with, which already exist, so this is a pure greed move.

The parking in the azores was spot on, pay 1c per minute and if you use the app instead of the machine you stop and start at will.

There is no need to pay for parking in Stafford.

Indeed. Unless you’re going to see a film (in which case you’d overstay generally) you can park at most places free for 2 hours. I use Riverside when going to the cinema but other than that there’s plenty of parking available at no cost.

Isn’t the guildhall carpark a good way to get your hubcaps nicked from what I’d heard? Surprised anyone actually parks there at all given how easily it is to access town from the free carparks

If i had a pound for every time someone told me they would have stayed longer, but they had to get back to their car because of the parking ticket, over the last 15 years, i'd definitely have many more pounds than i currently have.

I wouldn't be retiring on it, i don't like getting caught up in hyperbole.

It is definitely a 'thing', though - and you know as well as i do that most of them are leaving Town more than half an hour before they need to, just in case.

It is an idea rooted in the needs of the producer at the expense of the consumer, like everything now.

The NCP branding plastered everywhere feels a little dystopian...

Attention citizen, please pay your parking fee to the nearest NCP enforcer

Avoid the car park behind Couture (or whatever name its called now). They issue £100 fines for any overstays. My wife works at Cloud 9 and has parked at the car park, she won't again following her large fine.
