Hey,

thought I'd start a thread for all you fellow axe wielders so we can talk guitars, share tips, post pictures, videos and compositions of our work. Oh, not to mention drool over gear nice gear :) So, who here plays guitar and what influenced you to start playing?

I first started when I was around 13 or so, right after hearing Ozzy's greatest hits album in 2000? or around about then. Was the first time I heard Randy Rhoads & Jake E.Lee. Was already a fan of Slash but these guys really got me into learning the guitar.

Stop fannying about and get round to it! lol - Great little tune that, Zakk's a beast on guitar. Although I much preferred his playing when he first joined Ozzy, seem's to play the same old jumbo these days, not as creative.

I was a late starter at 22 but I did learn harp (harmonica) when I was about 13 ish after seeing an old TV show with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee so must have been infected with the blues from then.

I received Stefan Grossman's 'How to play blues guitar one Christmas and that was it! My lonely journey into finger picking guitar started and my heroes became, in no particular order: Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Tommy McClennan, Rev Gary Davies, Blind Blake and many, many others. Better also mention Keith Richards for his dirty rythym playing, Jimi Hendrix etc.

All of the above have left their mark on me but unfortunately little of their skills.

One last one. Martin Thompson of Stafford's very own Deacons fame as he used to run the guitar course at the college.
