Has cancer become a fashion satement

I've had 2 patches of skin cancer on my face, both were treated 3 times before I had an operation 3years ago to remove them and a skin graft put in place, so far nothing has come back. The year before I had a large tumour removed from the back of my hand, resulting in slightly reduced use of my right hand. I haven't put my no make up photo up on Facebook, mainly, because quite simply I don't want to. Perhaps if I had flawless beautiful skin I might have.
It doesn't bother me, all the photos. And it has raised a lot of money for Cancer Research

What an absolutely ridiculous thing to come out with, like being poorly is like wearing a pair of shoes. There is nothing more frightening than sitting in a doctors office and being hit with that kind of diagnosis. I can't imagine there is anyone in the world living with cancer and thinking of it as a fashion statement.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself fatfrog.

Being open about Cancer could be termed 'fashionable' but perhaps better explained as more popular than it used to be. Which in itself is generally helpful considering we often did not even like to say the word, preferring to say the big C. This openness is useful for early diagnosis and treatment and sharing knowledge.

Whilst many of us are survivors or living with cancer for many the word is the worst word in the world.

If we turn this ' fashion' into education then most of us will have chance of a healthier and longer life - a major task if we consider the massive amounts of money spent by the food and drink lobbyists.

For some however, sadly it is about genetics, the good and the bad luck of life.
