Help needed concerning gas fitter in Stafford area please

Hi,
I'm in a bit of a dilema and don't know what to do next.

My built in gas oven/grill has broken and on going to Comet to buy another one,we were told that as it is such a tight fit,if a new one doesn't fit, then tough, we will have to buy it even if they can't fit it into the gap.

So we would really like to have the gas hob and oven removed completely and fit a free standing cooker in the gap. This would mean cutting the kitchen top out as well, but we don't mind that.

Does anyone know of a gas fitter/engineer who would come and cut out the work top (reasonably tidily)and remove the Hob and oven for us?

Any suggestions/ideas of what to do would be welcome

Thanks

I have used Ogdens for this last year in various rented houses that I look after and found them to be truly excellent - see this thread.

Rikki might sort you out, I'm sure. He's often on here and the Ogdens website is listed as his signature.

Top chaps.

Can you not cut the worktop yourself OP? Seems like an expensive way of doing things getting a gas fitter to cut a worktop?!?!?

If hubby was any good with a saw we would have had a go,but his answer to everything is get a hammer and smash it up!

We've got enough bodged-up jobs around the house LOL

Plus,we do need a gas fitter to remove the appliances and they are well and truly stuck in at the moment!

No,I'm afraid we have to go down the expensive road when it comes to things like that.

I'm constantly surprised how much more care people will take when employing someone compared to the lackadaisical attitude that prevails when they marry somebody. You really should have got a CV - and checked the qualifications and references.

I have no sympathy.

unless it's a freestanding cooker on a Hose with a bayonet connection then yes.
