It is a great shame as it represents another piece of what makes Staffordshire Staffordshire is consigned to history. It is crazy to think that it is now getting very difficult to actually find an oatcake shop in the County. I can't believe that this has been allowed to happen - you could never imagine not being able to find a pork pie shop in Melton Mowbray or not being able to find a pudding shop in Bakewell. Whilst this isn't the end for the freshly, locally available Staffordshire delicacy it is certainly another nail in the coffin.
I'd love to see an oatcake shop in the County Town, I think the town centre could support one but alas the rents are too high - or the empty unit on the Weston Road where Paws for Thought used to be would be ideal as it is near to me!
