Just letting people know that the old Comet store is going to be a Home and Bargin.

There is also planning submitted to turn the section of land between the slip road near frankie and bennies and the lichfield road into a car sales forecourt.

Bugger. Thats going to make the place look a bit of a ****hole isn't it, can't imagine what goes through these planners minds sometimes. I suspect its what goes through their palms that matters more.

Goldilox and I were discussing this on our jaunt into town earlier - as we live on St Leonards we pass the trees a lot, and while they are pretty, they are also very big. I wonder how the residents of that bit of Lichfield road would feel - it would make the retail park much more apparent, but would let in a lot more light as they are quite oppressive. 6 of one half a dozen of the other?

Enjoying a drop of red.

Just what that stretch of road needs is yet another inconsiderate garage with car transporters blocking the road at rush hour as per Randles and Knights BMW.

That raises a good question, was it originally called Home and Bargain when it first came to Stafford? I always call it that and get chastised.

The trees are supposedly staying for the most part from what I can tell from looking at the plans.

It was originally called Home and Bargains countrywide until the late 90s, when it changed its' name to just Home Bargains. I'm not too sure how long HB has been in Stafford, as it was in or around somewhere near to where it is now, but when Gaolgate Place was developed in 2003, it was certainly called just Home Bargains.

According to Wikipedia, it's mostly Scousers that still call it Home & Bargains..

Was it not originally in the row facing the back of Woolworths..?
