There's already an article up on the BBC about that. Went past about 11.45 this morning, there were 3 engines there.

Is that the one they just finished turning into flats?
No, they're further down the road.

I was one of the first ones there frantically banging on the neighbours doors to make sure no one was in. Tragic :( It was also on Central News yesterday.

Did make me think that it's time to get some smoke alarms in my house though.

I would definitely recommend a handful of smoke alarms Tumble Weed. And I hope you never have to use them!

The fire was on the corner of South Street & Russell Street. Old dear who kept herself to herself and never did anybody any harm. R I P

Very sad indeed. It was the house which is split into 2 as GG says. R.I.P.

I live next door to the lady who died and find the whole incident extremely upsetting.

I'd lived next door to the lady involved for over 6 years but I reckon I only spoke to her 3 or 4 times. She was very friendly but also a very private person who liked to keep herself to herself. I never knew too much about her but my thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.

I wasn't at home at the time of the incident as I'd spent New Year over at my sister's place in Ashbourne, and knew nothing about what had occured until I found South Street blocked off on my return on Friday evening.

I'd like to thank everyone involved, especially my neighbours and the emergency services who took the time to ensure there was noone in my house. I have thought about all the "what if" scenarios had I been at home. Yes, there is damage to my home but I'm grateful things aren't worse, and believe everyone's thoughts should be with the friends and family of the deceased.

Grace & Dean @ The Railway are doing a collection for a wreath, so if you're popping in for a pint pop your change into the jar.

If you want a couple of free ones give the station a bell and they'll come and fit them for free.
There is a freephone no that I can't remember but just ring the station direct
