Down 19% for us..... As i thought, nill or negative equity.
I think mine's the same. Next door is up for sale, for £100.000, if mine goes for the same price, which given the state its on is more than doubtfull, it will mean that they've only gone up a grand in 10yrs.

Good point, well made. I suppose a better analogy is that your house price is higher but not by as much as a freddo* and everything else you buy on average. Who'd have thought in 2007 that a frog shaped chocolate bar would be a better investment!

*Other confectionery items are available, most performed better than houses in terms of sale prices.

The more I think about this the more ludicrous the finance system seems, it only exists in our heads. You are trading on the promise of someone that can only repay with another promise?

According to this our area average is £295k, up 25% since 2007.
But does it matter? Unless I wanted to buy 8 houses in North Ormesby?

House values seem to be plucked out of thin air anyway.

For instance, our fairly modern, 3 bed semi was up at 165,000. But then a completely flat-faced, tiny terraced house on a main road will be listed at 150,000 or a dingy old terraced build with a fallen apart garden will be listed at 160,000?

Doesn’t make any sense to me.

A house price is only an opinion

A house only becomes an asset when you have more than one that produces an income

Until then a house is a liability

A house sale price is a real number

How pee'd off must the folk of North Ormesby be when they read their report?

I suspect it reads something like

Your ward is crap

The average house price is F.ALL in 2017 Doesn't matter what the % change is cos no-one wants to live here.

For the average house price in your ward you could buy a monopoly house

or Knightsbridge and Belgravia can buy the entire property range in your town by merely selling their delapidated garden shed.

Reminded me of this.....

"In 1999 minimum wage was 5p. This means you could buy 72 freddos with one hours wage.

“Now minimum wage is £7.50/hr yet freddos are 25p meaning you can only buy 30 freddos with one hours wage.

For the continuum of freddo purchasing we need £18/hr minimum. "

Are Freddo's the same size though? I seem to remember them being bigger when they first appeared (like most chocolates).
