have you met when not in stafford?

see, sheffields a rum place- its full of us staffordians at any one point. there were umpteen of us all at just shef uni at the same time for the 4 years i was there.

i was at the dentists today and the hygenist was telling her assistant that the dentist next door was from her home town....and then she said this person went to stafford grammar school!

unfortunately, i was like some slack jawed yokel at the time having had bit of local on either side of my mouth, but i managed to dribble at her...stafford?

turns out shes an ex-waltoner, started the year we left (ouch, now that made me feel old and no injections were going to numb that pain) and her family lives near the olds!

so, my question to you lovely people is....wheres the most wierd and wonderful place/circumstances youve met a fellow staffordian when not in stafford?

Longridge, a small town northeast of Preston, and quite close to where I lived for six years before I moved to Stafford. Last year I was up there and in the pub when I bumped into an ex-taxi driver from Stafford.

a few years ago i was on holiday in zakynthos (for those that don't know, it's a little greek island, and this was back in 2001 before it become popular).. my gf at the time and i saw a sign one day advertising "tekno drum & bass," so we jumped in a taxi that night and made our way to the address given.. to say the bar was off the beaten track was an understatement - the taxi ride was long and expensive, and when we reached our destination it definitely felt like we had entered ass-rape territory..

our trepidation turned to surprise and elation, however, when we were approached by some vaguely familiar faces.. it was another staffordian couple, who were friends-of-a-friend! in fact, the girl was the niece of my dentist, and she went on to become one of my best friends - not because of this chance meet, but through another drum n bass related incident lol..

but yeah, in summary, i was in the arse end of nowhere on a tiny greek island, and somehow ran into a couple of staffordians and a right ol' time was had by all!

97' in Zante saw a lad from Stafford walk past the bar I was sitting in.

98' Day trip into the mountains in Turkey, we stopped off for lunch at a beautiful cabin owned and run by a bloke from Stafford who married a Turkish lady.

99' When backpacking Oz met a guy in a Sydney hostel who was the cousin of the guy I was seeing at the time, though we'd never met.

Lol, no a friend of mine has a bar with his Spanish 'Partner' in Madrid. Two Staffordians owning a bar in Madrid would be a coincidence though.

No it wasn't a David am afraid, but it is a weird coincidence, aspecially as my bro who lived over there had been in there a few times didnt realise where this person was from.
