Hello!

I'm trying to make a set of playing cards on the computer!

I would like them all to have a design on one side, and different questions on the other.

APPARENTLY this is too much to ask from Publisher.

I am about 2 seconds away from hurtling this fecking laptop out the window and screaming in techno-rage!!!

Dear lord please someone help me.

This is not good for my health!!!!

Biscuits await!

Thank you xxxxxxxxx

There was a great playing card based quiz on BFBS, or the World Service, around 45 years ago, hosted by David Nixon.

The four suits had questions on specific subject areas, which varied in difficulty, depending on where in the hierarchy the particular card was - contestants were not allowed to make notes or have a timepiece on them. If they called for a card that had gone, they got a penalty point - they could play a Joker at any time before the end and remove all their previously acquired penalties, which, of course became more prevalent as the end approached - so they had to try to play their joker at the last minute, but not too late. They also had to remember which cards had already gone - and know the answers to the questions that came up, of course.

I've never met anybody else that remembers it, but I'm sure it happened.

There may be other facilities - I just Googled "make your own playing cards" and loads came up. There may be something that will let you print your own.

You could photocopying a pack of cards cutting them out and sticking your question on the back, then laminating them !

Is this what you had in mind TCRL?

These are nearly business card sized and, reduced in size further,
you could possibly get 13 cards to a sheet of A4 paper/card and
then cut along the black lines.

Publisher is a shit application and should never be used. It's not what it claims to be.

Hi @Ecker

Yes I am still interested sorry!

This is a project for school - I have been so so busy and just haven't had the chance to look at this until now!

Any help would be mush much appreciated!

I have access to a laminator over the next two weeks so hope to get it sorted then!

Thaank you!

Buy an ordinary pack of cards with a design on the back that you like.

Buy some computer labels of a size that would cover the front of the playing card.

Use the label facility of your favourite word processor (or spreadsheet) and type your questions in each label. Remember to leave plenty of space for a border as printing can be a bit hit-and-miss.

Print your labels.

Peel the labels off the backing sheet and stick them on the playing cards.

ETA Problem #1 - finding a set of labels of the right size. I'm doing a similar project of my own so will report back if I find anything appropriate. (I'm hoping there's something on the shelves of Ryman or WHSmiths, but I reckon I'm going to be disappointed.)

Bit of a bugger here Mikinton, Waddingtons (eg) playing cards are approx 85mm by 55mm
the standard business card dimensions but they (Waddingtons) have curved corners. The
nearest Avery label would be great at exactly those dimensions but with angular corners so,
you'd have to cut round the corner of each card (I think) though, I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Bit of a bugger here Mikinton, .
Yeah, tell me about it LOL.

I've spent much of the afternoon trying to match playing cards to labels without success (so far).

I've got the images I'm going to print, in a PDF. And it's no problem adjusting the size of the images so that they fit nicely on the labels. But it's getting a label to match the card that's the problem.

I'm looking to design both the front and back - I should have explained myself properly in the first place!

I am a teacher (well very nearly - I graduate in July!) and I would like to make challenge cards for my students!

The idea being that if there are any exceptional students in my class I would like to be able to push and challenge them further by providing a set of question cards that they can take as and when they need them.

So I would like to make a 'Mini Challenge' ( I have a classic mini) with minis on one side and questions such as:

Define
Describe
Explain
List

Etc etc on the other side.

I have some card sized laminating pouches and 2 weeks off over Easter!

I took Grams advice and found a template online but I can't seem to get them to line up on each side when I print them?

I must have spent 6 hours on this already!!

Thank you!

Here's what I'll be doing, TCRL.

1) Edit the images. There's currently 8 playing cards to a landscape format page, 4x2, and a bit close to print on labels. (There's no gap between cards.)

2) Print the 25 pages on A4 sheets with 1 label per page. Like this.

3) Cut the 25 pages to make 200 playing card labels.

4) Peel off the 200 labels and stick them to 4 boxes of blank playing cards. Like this.

Though I could, I don't intend laminating them.

ETA I've just seen a pack of A4 Labels at Ryman's, Lichfield for £6.99 (presumably around 25 sheets).
