Taken from the kitchen opposite my officehere is a nice picture of mr turbine up-close
Weird that, my oldies picked one up at the weekend to run the fridge on their boat....how strange!I've thought about looking into one just powerful enough to run the lighting in my hen house. But then I expect a solar panel would be likely to be cheaper.
I have literally only just noticed this! Are they all called Hugh, or do they have other names?
OP seemed happy....I have literally only just noticed this!
Would you like me to amend the title, @My Name is URL? Or has the horse long since bolted?
Was thinking of editing the title of the thread to correct the typo, but I quite like it now so will leave as is.
Currently about 14% - http://www.ukenergywatch.org/Electricity/Realtime - even on this not very windy evening.Hugh and his colleagues set a few records in August:
http://www.renewableuk.com/en/news/...ts-nuclear-and-coal-in-record-breaking-august
22% of the UK's electricity was generated by wind farms, one sunny day in August.
Now, that may say more for the UK's summer weather than the efficiency of wind power generation, but I think it is pretty impressive. Enough to stop the 'not in my back yard' 'countryfiles' I doubt it.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-29531395Nuclear power in private hands seems more than a bit barmy to me - even if the 'private' hands are those of a foreign government's nationalised energy provider, funded by a 'communist' state.
