...work at lunchtime to move into my new house!!!!!!

get the feck in!

im going to move out the house that has affectionately (:/) known as 'the hovel' and into my own first proper home that i wont be moving out of in 12 months.

unfortunately, as a result, im not gonna be skiving work coz im going to be painting, sanding, cleaning, scrubbing and ikea-ing for the next week, plus im not gonna have any tinterweb.

so a have a fab week without me, ill be catching up with all the ford gossip through our kid whos coming up to help, dont get into trouble, let the server die or anything wanky like that.

i bid you all a fond farewell, but ill be due to return shortly with 24 hour net- lovely.

weeelllll, im on about 4 parties so far:

one for mates, one for work (need to keep these things seperate ;)), one for non reprobate mates (might be a bit dry that one) and probably just another random one to mop up anybody thats missed the others! lol

so, obviously, will be keeping you posted- will try and line it up with a decent gig in town around january timeish. check out the plug website for anything that takes your fancy and we'll go for that day.

Hey Cookie, I'm moving house in three weeks time - any tips on who to get utilities from? I know not to touch NTL, and British Gas are supposed to be a bit crap...

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
i think NTL are ace. seriously, i pay 30 quid for landline, broadband and cable tv and now for an extra tenner each month they've given me a free phone with 300 free texts and 300 free minutes per month.

ditto.. i was with ntl the whole time i lived in stafford, and never had a problem with them.. when i moved to sheffield i transferred my account no bother, and they even upgraded my 512k broadband to 1.5mb for nowt.. then, just as they announced they were going to upgrade everyone to 10mb (yes, 10mb) for free, i moved house - to a non-ntl area :grr:

so now i'm on 2mb adsl, and whilst it's ok, it's certainly not a patch on ntl's lovely cable service.. plus, i now have to shell out £15/m on sky's basic service, on top of my internet bill.. oh, and £11 to bt for a line i don't even use for voice calls..

erm to be honest, ive been a bit slack and just gone with the utilities that were already connected.

at the mo im with scottish power for gas and lecky simply because i have no idea how much my bills are likely to be. ive always lived in rented accomodation with my bills included since uni and i left 5 years ago.

once ive been in for the first 6 months or so then i reckon ill probably start looking about to see if i am getting the best deal.

i think im stuck with yorkshire water, but thats rates and is pretty reasonable.

i think im gonna go with ntl/telewest for my tv and broadband....theres already a box for that and sky but by all accounts telewest have a better rep in sheffield and since theyve bought out ntl i think their customer services and general rep has improved.

the only thing im well fooked off about is my council tax. i moved in on the 1st, got my payment slips for 147 quid a month (band a?) on the 6th....called up yesterday to sort out my single persons and got told theres a 4 week admin backlog!!!!! so im buggered if im paying them a penny until they get the correct bills out to me- ill never get it back off them!

you only pay council tax for 10 months of the year. you won't have to pay in jan and feb.

yeah, thats what i thought too.

only the paying deadlines are 1st jan and 1st feb!

even more reason not to pay the wastrels a penny :)

yeah, but you are still paying for the full year, just in 10 installments - you don't get jan & feb "free".. cookie, the reason you have been slapped with a bill is because you have moved in at the end of the year; you have to be billed for jan & feb, whereas most people will have already paid for this over the course of their normal 10 monthly payments..

you also have the option to pay in equal monthly installements (i.e. for all 12 months).. that's what i do - direct debit every month..

ill probably go with that option....but not until they send me a proper bill for the right amount.
