Inadvertent features of Stafford.

The Horse Chestnut trees along Riverway, I love them; ever since I was a kid I've always loved going along there, beautiful mature trees that inexplicably for Stafford have survived our retarded planning department. Quite miraculous really............!

One of my measures of when Spring has truly arrived is driving down Riverway with the trees covered in shiny bright green leaves.

Lovely.

About a week to go I reckon.

I'm utterly convinced that this has happened inadvertantly as there is no way the bunch of buffoons who masquerade as competant members of Stafford Borough Council could have planned this, but I today discovered that it is possible to walk/cycle from Eccleshall Road to the Sorting Office with very minimal time alongside roads! We followed the disused railway line to Doxey Road, crossed there and walked thorugh Castletown, then over the bridge by the Palmbourne Estate, left at the Castlefields balancing lake and came out right by the Rugby Club, just by the Sorting Office. I did vaguely think this was possible but not having a car currently has made us walk all sorts of places I'd forgotton about. Was a jolly nice walk as well. So anyone who needs to get to the Sorting Office from the northend can walk or cycle safely almost all the way! Happy days :)

St George's site has some fantastic blossom trees .and the trees
Infront of the old building were imported in many years ago , but now left to ruin as no longer tended as they used to be .

It's hardly inadvertant because it's been planted but, the bee garden next to the
Shell garage on the Sandon Road is springing into life very nicely with a new
bed being added this year.

That circle of bare earth - inexplicable, ugly, reminiscent of a site for human sacrifice but probably just used for boozing, pissing, puking and who wants to know what else - at the left hand side of the entrance to the carpark of the Temple of Tesco.
Why is it bare earth? Did somebody actually design it? What goes on there that keeps it a beaten waste? Why haven't Tesco ever done anything to make it less ugly? Why have our highly esteemed local council planning officers never done anything to oblige Tesco to discharge its duty under its original planning consent?
Oh wait, I know the answer to the last one.

Why does it have an entrance and exit? I've always wondered that too - I'm sure Tesco's would love a Stafford Forum garden springing into life...

I've often thought the same about that, I've always just assumed there must be access to some utilities service there or something.

I love all the daffodills that are on the first big Bend after you go over the bridge coming out of doxey down the road heading toward derrington. I can't think what the road is called.
My son absolutly loves seeing the heron perched in the tree at millenium green. its always there . He calls it the dinosaur bird and thinks its the same one we rescued after it was hit by a car , could be . Either way he thinks the heron is his friend lol

I'm not sure if anybody takes responsibility for this, but the Buddleja at the Astonfields Road / Common Road junction has been rather good this year - it has gone over a bit now.
