Inches or Centimetres?

Some useless info:
Shipping forecasts are in millibar (absolute)
Ambient pressure at sealevel is about 1000 mbar (abs) = 1 Bar (abs) = 0 Bar (gauge)
A standard pressure gauge usually only shows relative pressure (above ambient)
This is in England and America usually in Psi, on the continent usually in Bar.

They rather have to, or the Belfast Enterprise would get quite exciting. The joke is to show people a picture of the interlaced track on the Boyne viaduct and persuade them that that's where the trains change over to the British rails...

Aye, I used to live there and got the train from Bangor up to Belfast fairly often.

All the best

Ireland inherited the Imperial stuff from a 100 years ago, but decided to ditch virtually all of it for the new century. You will still hear the odd reference to feet and inches, and pints are still used for draught beers, but that's about it.

I had a discussion with a chap in his late seventies about the possibilities of electric vehicles becoming practical for him and he had to do a bit of mental arithmetic to work out that my suggested range of 250 miles was really 400 kilometres...

So much for waiting until all the old people are dead.

I do need to remember that the 60kph limits are really only 37mph, rather than 40ish...

They didn't ditch 'Irish Miles.' (A universal constant which varies according to the beholder.) :heyhey::buddy:

I’m a metric head because it’s far more sensible. But beer must come in pints. Litre glasses on the Reeperbahn were far too much.:pint::heyhey:
