Best is Nishads or Malabar.

Malabar wins on service, friendliness and complimentary drinks!

LOSER - Rose of Kashmir

Absolute disgrace, rancid meat, tasteless generic runny sauces.
Passable naan bread.

I can imagine some dirty kitchen hand earning his wage by slinging stuff into a microwave straight off the back of a lorry.

Another vote for Malabar here, love the place.

For take away try Spice Delight, its on the road between the cinema and the island pub. By far the best takeaway in the 'ford, and they deliver :D

Nishads is good, but looks a tatty inside now if you're sober enough to notice. Malabar is a lovely place for a posh one. I agree with your comments about The Rose.... and the under age drinking must be good business for Bargain Booze! Abdul, at Stafford Balti, must be the nicest guy in the business...... and he remembers your name !

I always use Stafford Balti for sit-in, or Spice Delight for Take Away.

I had a bad experience with Nishads last year. I'm allergic to mushrooms, so I have to make sure that they don't put any in the food.

Nishads obviously just picked the 'shrooms out of some pre-made sauce, as I ended up in hospital after collapsing, not being able to breathe properly. I don't think i'll be going there again.

Spice Delight is without doubt the best Indian takeaway..never fails to impress.

We're all off to Dilshad's on Friday night for Tommy T's bday...last time we went it was really good food and service. If we were feeling rich then we'd go to Malabar - it's a completely different class, and has some great dishes which you wouldn't find in your average Balti house

Usually go to Stafford Balti for sit in and take aways. Went to a really nice one in Featherstone ages and ages ago called The Kings Repose. Dunno if it's still any good or even if it's still there.

Where's Malabar? Might have to try it.

Was the Malthouse Vaults. Its the underground one, can be found between the Nags Head and the Coach and Horses pubs. Think its below a gallery or something?

Went to Malabar on Saturday for a bit of the old lamb chatuchack, a portion of garlic & onion fried rice and a peshwari naan. Probably my favourite Indian food gaff in Stafford.

Always liked the chilli and garlic chicken in the Curry Kuteer, and Nishad's is good if you can get a seat. And if you're not allergic to mushrooms, of course.

I've never had a bad experience at the Rose - but last time we were at the Stafford Balti it was a bit unimpressive. We are on a misson to try as many as possible - maybe we could do with a ghood maps / mash up / definitive list type of thing.

Malabar is the beznezz, top marks all round. The Shads (Nish and Dil) are both very good with "take your own booze" a cost effective option, as it is at Rose of Kashmir, which also has excellent service. I doubt there is a really bad curry house in the Ford. A lot of it is personal taste!

Hmmm....i've heard quite a few dodgy reports about Riaz Spice next to the Colosseum, but have never been there myself. I've booked Nishad's for tonight instead of Dilshad's...thought it best to give them a break after last time! There are 10 fellas going tonight whilst the girlies get drunk in town. Apologies in advance if anyone els on here is there at the same time ;)

Yeah, ignore Riaz. Actually, I usually ignore anywhere that is based within a hundred yards of a nightclub, as they're catering for drunks. Ever ate a donner kebab sober?

Another vote for Malabar, frickin' delicious food, worth the extra few quid

Nishads is great for bigger parties, they don't mind the rowdy atmosphere, could do with a lick of paint though.

Frequently. With onion and tomato sauce. On naan. Yum.

We had a top meal at Nishad's last night and it was really busy, which always gives a good atmosphere. Mmm curry. I could tackle another right now!

Er - hello, everybody. Hope you won't mind if I stop wringing my hands and shuffling my feet outside the door and finally join the party - you seem to be a pretty amiable lot, after all...
I have eaten neither at Malabar nor Dilshad but on the strength of the glowing reports here, it's surely just a matter of time before I do. The last time I visited Nishad, the food and service were very good but that was over a year ago. I do love Stafford Balti - the standard is consistently high and Abdul, who is charm itself, will nip into the Coach & Horses to let you know whether or not your table's ready.
Does anybody recall a time when there were but two Indian restaurants in the town? Curry Kuteer (still there) and Purbani, which was between (what was) the Odeon and (what was) the Library and is long gone but is where I had my very first taste of Indian cuisine. I was marched, completely against my will, all the way from Props (then still a 'proper' wine bar, now an overpriced Chinese restaurant) one snowy night at the very end of the 70s. I ate chicken tikka (washed down with the finest Liebfraumilch in the house - it was still the 70s, remember) and declared it to be food of the gods and never looked back. Well, not 'til now, anyway...
Apologies - I've gone on a bit, here...
