Inside the Dark Web

It's hard to imagine we ever lived in a world without internet, yet it's only been knocking around for twenty-five years now. It's been expanding at an accelerating pace though, with everything from telephones, music, film, and television being redefined by it. In a very appropriate scheduling by the BBC considering all that's gone on these last few days, this Horizon documentary looks at the concerns that have come from this vast expansion including the issues of surveillance.

The programme meets hackers and scientists who are using technology to fight back, as well as the law enforcement officers who believe it's leading to opportunities for risk-free crimes. We'll also meet the World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange.

Man that was super interesting.

But let's hold off on Bude, dude...

Bude is as at least as interesting for...
a) its ridiculously uneconomic canal scheme
and
b) its ridiculously wonderful tide-filled lido

Credit where due.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
the only thing missing from the programme budey, was the South Park ejaculation

I do recall some Egyptians being arrrested in the Red Sea not so long for 'interfering with the internet
In an era of satalites we still rely entirely on PLUTO to survive

is this actually about the "dark web" (silk road, tor, etc.), or is it about surveillance? or both?

(sorry, i know i could watch the video to find out, but i hate watching things on the computer so my interest is piqued until i can watch this on TV)

which "last few days"? i've just looked this up on the BBC site, to see if i could perhaps get it on catch-up on sky, and it seems to be from september :raise:

soz for all the questions - i'm just wondering if this is about current events (e.g. government sanctioned spyware, north korea taking down sony) or whether it's a more broad look at the topic of shady internet shenanigans in general!

The program is quite broad ranging, talking about how gov's collects info from the web and how people use it. GCHQ is apparently intercepting huge amounts of data sent form ordinary UK citizens.
