Oh God please not this debate. Each has it's merits, each it's foibles. Let's save it for elsewhere on the net.

Sling it out the window and buy a Creative player instead. Much better/cheaper/easier to use.
^This, though.

yes! the forum's first PC vs. Mac debate :slayer:

PCs are better.. tenshon, you're not objectively comparing statistics and ergonomics - you are simply used to the way Mac OS operates and thus have trouble finding the fundamentals of Windows intuitive.. i'm a massive geek, spend my whole working life in front of a computer and when i come home sit in front of one.. i owned both a PC and a G4 Mac for years, have used DOS 6.22 through windows 3.1 to Vista, and Mac OS 9.0.1 to OS X 10.1.2..

i concur wholeheartedly with rich upsetter.. from a technical point of view, the mac gave me far more grief than the PC ever did.. it used to be that certain app's were definitely stronger on the Mac (the adobe suite, and audio app's such as Cubase spring to mind).. that is no longer the case.. everything available for the Mac is available for the PC, and thanks to the stability of recent microsoft OSes they are every bit as capable (and sometimes moreso) than their Mac OS counterparts..

however, the mac has become a more viable platform now that it is intel based, and one can install windows on it thanks to bootcamp.. i'm not saying rule OS X out entirely, just that any PC without windows installed is crippled imo..

and i don't want to hear a peep from you linux fags :grr:
well, for someone who uses macs for design purposes I can guarantee you they do a better job of operating design software such as quark, illustrator, freehand etc. while pc's maybe be great for playing games and visiting websites like this or richy upsetters' online store, when it comes to design shit like rendering vector graphics and fonts they don't match apple. this is why macs are the industry standard in my field of work. when you've worked on a 400 page hi-res print document with a total file size of a couple of GB you'll see the difference... i'm not a fan of OSX by the way, whilst it points to the future i don't think the current hardware is up to speed. I still work on OS9 and love it more than BBC loves girls aloud, cider, german cars and balloons.

Wow, you really must love it!

I'm just glad I don't understand what you're all talking about. All I want is my ipod back the way it was :/

New year, new ipod, new problems! So I got a new one because apparantly I can no longer walk somewhere without music, cos I end up, like, thinking and stuff. And that is clearly not on. Anyway, I plugged this one in and it promptly ejected itself (came up with the module that says 'you have ejected something unsafely blah blah'). And it continued to do this until I gave up about 3 hours later and manually unplugged the sodding thing. Has this happened to anyone before? When I went back home the other day it worked absolutely fine so there's nowt wrong with the thing itself, but now I'm back up north it's still doing it. I've tried reinstalling itunes, even defragging. It's driving me bananas. Any ideas?

your computer is either a) shit, b) loved, or c) a combination of (a) and (b)..

how many USB ports have you got in your 'puter? try the ipod in all of them.. also, how old is your computer, and what OS are you running?

for what it's worth, i bought ms. dirtybobby a 4gb ipod nano for xmas, and it works beautifully.. i had never used one me sen, and hadn't used itunes since i had my old G4 powermac running OS 9.2.1, but was pleasantly surprised at how easy it all was to set up and use..

steve jobs can still lick my balls, however..

There are two and I've tested them with a camera that's got a USB connection and they seem fine. It's Windows 2000, as is the computer at home that it worked on. I think the machine might be old yeah, but it worked on my other ipod :(
I think you're right it must be loved. Waaaaaaaaa.

Cuffy is the new skill
dont like itunes 7 which i was forced to download to make miss upsetters new ipod shuffle work. even by deselecting most of the options on set up, it still forcibly tries to make me connect to the itunes mini store, and loads of other bizwollox when using it. at least itunes 6 just let me alone to listen to music i wanted to, this newun' is trying to make listen to a right load of old shit. curses.

Speaking of ipods, i have one of the older ones, a salmon colour (not pink) and need a new battery also the screen lcd display is cracked behind the screen, does anyone know whether it's worth getting fixed and if so, do you know where fixes them...local?
If not, anyone wanna buy a pink ipod for £100?

lol touché

biggin, i'd cut your losses and buy a new nano.. unless you have a genuine, justifiable reason for wanting to carry your entire music collection around in your pocket, 4Gb is plenty, and there is no hard drive or moving parts to go wrong..

i bought my missus one for xmas and it's the shiznit..

I was going to say you can get iPod batteries on ebay, though if the screen is trashed youre prolly better off buying just buying a whole new unit.

Or just destroying the Apple Mac corporation and getting something that'll last longer than 5 minutes yet which doesn't look quite as sexy (cue death threats from assorted media types etc).

why in the name of bill gates did you continue to buy them when they kept breaking?? you think you'd learn after your first one went tits up, but buying another one after that gave up the ghost - you must be some kind of masochist lol..

actually, i guess it's because of the whole iTunes thing innit.. by tying itunes to the ipod, Jobs ensures that all his zealous minions are locked into buying his products for years to come :grr:

you can't deny they sure are purdy li'l devices, though.. ms. dirtybobby loves hers, bless her..
