Tony Hawks once said that he wanted to present a TV consumer programme called 'Tough shit! You bought it...'.

I'ld watch that.

The art is in aspiring to be what you want to be - not what you think that you should want to be - or worse, what you think that other people should think that you should want to be..

I'm no gynaecologist...
Wise words indeed.

Also "never eat in a chinese restaurant situated next to an animal shelter"

A degree shows a level of learning to employers. Often a degree in something can open up doors that would otherwise be shut IMHO.
I'm not saying that isn't the case but I've been working in IT for 10 years and now hold a relatively senior position as a Solution Architect designing IT infrastructure solutions for one of the largest IT players in Europe, all without a degree and in fact without a single IT qualification to my name

I've been able to progress from my first position as placement student working as a hardware engineer to where I am now based solely on experience

When I was performing interviews for a Desktop Technical Specialist position last year I don't think I once considered if the candidate had a degree or not. My judgements were made on what work experience the candidates had, what their technical skills were and if I felt their personality would fit it with the current team

There are a couple of Wintel Server Specialist positions being advertised but they're to be based out of Glasgow & London. The closest to Stafford is a Network Engineer position based out of Birmingham
