Job Centre

Noticed the other day, a "TO LET" sign on the job centre building and caught a glimpse of a sign saying the building was now closed to the public.

So when did the job centre close?

The Jobcentre is now behind St Chad's, in the old Council buildings..

..my informant tells me..

Something being moved INTO the town centre, "This could be the start of something big".

Will there be restaurants and retail outlets on the ground floor to look forward to?

My informant says that the staff were using the Rose & Crown at lunchtime - so, there could be a slight economic effect in the town centre - although, Fatso's may be feeling the pinch.

And, of course, there used to be a Jobcentre in the town centre - next to the Post Office, on Mill Bank.

....yes, but no tax office! I went about a month-ish ago & the job centre part was still there but the tax office had gone without a trace...the very (un)helpful security bloke gave me a number to call....

So seeing as the job centre has now moved in one of the SCC buildings, does this mean the council now run the job centre? I saw the sign this morning and just has the SCC name and logo along with the job centre plus logo, no mention of the DWP. Unless I didn't read the sign correctly.

Presumably, the Jobcentre is just renting the space - maybe they'll be moving into where the library is now going, when the library is moved on yet again?

As described to me by my 'snout', I think it's in here - not far from there, anyway....

If you go online a box will pop up asking if you want to chat, someone usually replies instantly I spent one day last week wasting my life trying to ring them and gave up so went onto their website and bingo! But to save time tell them which area you are enquiring and that it is yourself you are querying about if that is the case as they will ask this before going through the normal security questions and if it's self assessment have your UTR number available.

That's useful to know, I shall try that next time I need to speak to them.
