We've just been watching a program about scottish farmers, with some adorable animals. If I was younger I'd think about doing something with animals (but would have to be something along the lines of making a living but keeping them alive though, I'd treat them all as pets)

In the mean time , still trying to talk hubby imto going to the dog rescue centre and getting an additional member of the family (or two) . ....

We're having vegatable , lentil and pearl barley stew tomorrow. Cancelled my meat off tomorrows Tesco Click & Collect order after watching the programme.

I'd make a useless farmer as I'd end up with hundreds of pet cows, lambs, pigs chickens ..
Same, I'm fine eating prepackaged nondescript supermarket meat, but if it came to raising my own, I'd have an awfull lot of pets, there's no way I could kill or eat something I had nurtured & cared for.

An almost lifelong vegetarian friend of mine thought the same til she moved to a remote coastal town in Australia, now she raises and eats her own.

You could foster dogs if you didn't want to be tied down...

Mad Cat Woman
I know a couple who have a smallholding, they raise their own food - lambs, pigs and chickens.
All was going fine, until she decided to name the newborn lambs one year. They were sat down to Sunday dinner, and one of the kids asked about the meal.
It suddenly dawned on them all that they were chomping down more than just an animal, this had been given a name and answered when called.
She wasn't allowed to name anything destined for the dinner table after that.
