Just for fun: With Bates Gun shop now sold, what would the forum like to see on the Market Square?

I was in there for about an hour between 2 and 3, I think.

This place is going to be a little lovely gem of a place.

I chatted to the owner (Floodgates owner) about when it's going to be open full-time and how well I think he'll do.

It had a great atmosphere already!

Good luck to eveyone involved.

Yes, I'll get a £20 (each) bar credit sorted for both Carole and Tek-Monkey as a prize for both guessing correctly and keeping the secret! You will have to private message me so that I can get a code for you to use to access the prize.
Just looked at the history and PeterD is a also a winner so same applies!

That is really kind but I honestly don't need a voucher for myself.

However the next time I am arranging a "bit of a do" to raise funds for church may I ask you for a voucher for our raffle please?

"Well, OK, then, I'll have a pint of communion wine - in a lady's glass, thanks"

Popped in Saturday and already looking forward to popping in again, for the grand opening.

I bought a Kwak to remind me of a small trip to Brussels I had, the beer's a little stronger (8%) than I remembered!

Spoke to Mr Floodgate, though I think due to his lack of sleep and hard work, he was a bit dazed.

No.7 should work out a treat.

Have you actually opened yet? I was in town on Friday and there was no sign of opening. It will be a great addition to a Stafford Ale trail and on hot nights when the Vaults is rammed I am sure people will pop next door.

@gilbert grape I don't think the pub landlord is a Stafford forum user, they just did a pop up pub on Saturday, whilst the cheese & ale festival was on.
There is loads of fitting still to happen before they can open properly, he still needs to put in light fittings, a bar & tables & chairs etc so I can't imagine it will be opening for a few weeks yet. @LLFC and the bar no.7 landlord have done a excellent job with keeping the integrity of the building and if the atmosphere on Saturday is anything to go by its going to be an amazing place and a real asset to the town. I believe it's going to specialise in gin & bottled beer.

Can't wait :stafford::pint::stafford:
