Kids pony trekking etc - Horse riding for kids around Stafford

Hi All

Have done a quick search on here and on google but haven't really come up with anything much, My 6 year old has said she would like to "have a go on a horse", I don't really want a lesson for her, more the chance just to be sat on one and led around for half an hour or so to see if she likes it. I found Cannock Chase Trekking Centre does one (but only up to age 7 which would exclude my older daughter who I'm sure would love a go too), but was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else that would do this?

Cheers in advance....(Gramaisc I'm looking at you ;) )

Is she a tall 6? Getting close to 7? I'm all for a tiny white lie to make the world go round.

Nah, she just turned 6 last Wednesday and she's not exactly tall for her age. Would've been worth a try but would like to take the blokeys little'un with us too...and he's only 3.

Most places start from the age of 7 because they can’t get insurance for children below that age. If you did lie to them you would have to do it on paper in most cases and could invalidate any chance to make claim against them – for negligence etc.

I was given a number by a friend for a centre she took her 3 year old son to that I keep meaning to get in touch to take my three year old. It’s somewhere near Eccleshall I think, apparently they tac up the pony then you lead the pony and child round the school, they will want you to have some experience with horses though I think – I can send you the number if you want it.

I took my daughter to Hoo Farm just past Newport last week (Brilliant day out I must say) and they have pony rides there, if it’s just a quick go on a pony you want then that is probably your best bet. It’s also an animal park and petting zoo, we got to stroke a snake and bottle feed a baby goat.

Bob you're a star - if you could message me the number of the centre in Eccleshall I'd be very grateful :) I've had plenty of experience tacking up and leading horses etc so that wouldnt be an issue.

Hi Bob, no I haven't called them yet - haven't even thought about taking them recently....maybe as the holidays get a bit closer!
