Shame this place closed down. It was pretty good for quite a while after it opened but went a bit downhill before it closed, most of the staff changed & the food quality dropped. I don't know whether it changed hands but it definitely wasn't anywhere near as good before it closed.

Great location
I remember it as a derelict building
I think a local builder renovated it and made it into a silver service a la carte restaurant - 1970's ( can't recall the name ) but the builder may have been the chap who was once involved with the Seven Stars at Sandon

It's been a few things since
Curry House
Disco Bar
Time Portal
Court of Law ( for one case )

Curry House...
I remember it as a curry house - in fact i had my first curry there in what must've been c. 1987/88.

Ron Roestenburg. Great chap.
His son - or at least one of them, he may have had more - was a bit of a twat. A useful twat in some ways - i credit him, in part, for the valuable lesson of hopefully having avoided his manner of twatishness. It's always a benefit to learn from the mistakes of others, rather than of your own, if at all possible.

These are, i hope you understand, 'historic allegations' of twatishness - for all i know he may be beatific now.

He was definitely a twat then, though. That won't, indeed can't, change.
